Not only is Charlie doing good, but he's coherent. His rationale makes a lot of sense, and he added a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor to boot.

Best thing he's done since Platoon.

Here's my thing with Sheen, I think he's actually a decent human being. He has paid medical bills for fans, he puts his money where his mouth is, and he doesn't take bullshit. I'm betting that's what Denise Richards saw and fell in love with.
But then the alcohol/drugs kick in, and we get "Charlie Sheen"--the guy who should not be near his children, and knows it. Who publicly threatens his ex-wife, dates/marries women he shouldn't. Says crazy shit, and then gets his co-stars fired/has temper tantrums. Unfortunately this side has basically taken over. He's Jekyll & Hyde.

I wouldn't call him a decent human being. This is a guy that has physically and mentally abused his ex-wives/girlfriends. I have no idea if it's due to drugs or not, but I do know that he continues to act like an abusive asshole and not seek help.
ETA: Charlie isn't the only celeb that has donated. President Obama and Laura Bush donated instead of taking the challenge. Also, a bunch of celebs have donated and taken the challenge - JJ Abrams, Anna Wintour, Novak Djokovic, Gisele, Chris Hemworth, Ben Affleck, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise. I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones I remember.

I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones I remember. Well, I think all celebs have donated. I actually did like Charlie's spin on it. Because the challenge is 100 bucks, and who really knows what anyone gives. He challenged big names to put up big money (although not big for them at all). I just think there's a mental illness at work here, and he goes on and off the rails. I think he does a lot for attention (his little breakdown period), but he may also be self-medicating, not taking the right medications, etc. And some people just are mentally ill and can't get out of it. Sure, that doesn't excuse abusive behavior, but there are definitely two sides to this guy constantly at battle. It's a shame because he's got a lot of kids who need a dad - and may have inherited his genes. At least Denise seems to be decent and will help her kids through it. But where are those twins these days?

Lady Gaga, Tom Cruise and Taylor Swift have all offered big money - Lady Gaga said she's giving $10,000 and Tom Cruise (who is filming a movie) was donating for his entire cast and crew. More importantly though, why should they have to give big money? A donation is a donation. Plus, a lot of these celebs give big to other charities as well.
Charlie very well may have a mental illness, but that doesn't mean we can't hold him accountable for his behavior/actions. Mental illness does not equal violence and it does a disservice to those that suffer from it, when the two are constantly linked together. Are there people with mental illness that are violent? Sure, but the vast majority with a mental illness are not.
Charlie has a repeated history of abuse and violence and he refuses to get help for it. His behavior is just as bad (if not worse) than Chris Brown and Mel Gibson's, yet I don't see people giving them a pass. It's sad that Charlie's 4 children have to see their father act like an out of control asshole.

I did not say that mental illness causes violent behavior at ALL. This guy is screwed up - we all know that. I only said that making it a high challenge (and not at all for people making millions) made me happy. As I've show all over this board, ALS is personal to me, and asking f'ing Ashton Kutcher to give 10 grand that he would probably blow on anything else is a good challenge.

He is a pretty vile human, but I do give him credit for doing his challenge they way he did. I get that many celebs donate and donate big so it really shouldn't be a big deal that he did it. But this is Charlie Sheen. I was half expecting to see him do it by dousing himself in vodka.

That was one really meta finale last night on Two and a Half Men. They managed to get Angus to come back and make sex jokes, but I guess they couldn't get Charlie to return.
They still had time to drop a piano on him. But then Chuck Lorre got a piano dropped on him, too. Was that some inside joke from the fallout?
Still, it was pretty funny, in the "we know this should have died a long time ago. we're over it too". Even Ashton Kutcher was funny, and I would never say that publicly. Holland Taylor will always be the standout on that show.
(I couldn't find a thread on the show. It could only find Mad Men for "two and a half men".)
