And it’s not like she doesn’t have witnesses, like Ashley Judd, Julie Taymor, and Edward Norton. I’m reading Down and Dirty Pictures: Miramax, Sundance, and the Rise of Independent Film by Peter Biskind and I just got to the part where Weinstein screams at Taymor in front of an entire focus group in a lobby. Plenty of his actions as depicted by Hayek are already well-documented.
Harvey also physically threatened Julie Taymor's husband if he tried to "defend her".
And I think the conclusions Hollywood came to about that fight were:
1. That's Harvey being Harvey. It's the price of doing business with Miramax. 2. Harvey was probably right that her movie was too long and boring 3. Julie Taymor is difficult because she's a self-indulgent, overly sensitive artiste who makes long, boring movies that don't appeal to anyone 4. When Julie went to re-edit the movie to meet Harvey's demands, she must have done a bad job because the final product wasn't very good. A good director would have made it better!
So basically the only person who lost in that scenario was Julie. And I think the stench of being "difficult" clung to her and cost her when future projects (like Spiderman) did not do well.

WHEW! Every time a male celebrity's name pops up nowadays, I instantly brace myself for the worst. Thank goodness he's just being supportive. (I have a cat named Banderas, and would hate to feel icky about his name sake!)
Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another, as if we were one single tribe~ Black Panther
I wonder how Harvey Weinstein decided that Lupita Nyong'o and Salma Hayek were the only two accusers out of 60 who deserved a detailed rebuttal...
