It seems to me that Celine has loosened up since Rene's death. Not that he was a bad influence, maybe she felt older and more refined with him. Now she seems like she's letting herself be young.

I think marrying someone so much older made her feel like she needed to be more dignified so she didn't reflect badly on him. I know there were snide comments made when they got together- she was marrying someone whose first child was born the same year she was, it was bound to bring raised eyebrows. Now, she's an adult who is no longer in that marital cocoon. She hasn't gone wild and started dating a teenager herself, she's just making her own decisions.

Very much agreed, auroranorth. Also, too--working so much as a literal child, and now things are probably more secure so she can relax a bit. And finally, she's working through the loss of a spouse after a long decline. There are too many schema to choose from!

I always will have a soft spot for Celine I remember her Eurovision song in all her late 80s style, Ireland had won the year before so it was in Dublin and we were all glued back then. Only a few channels to choose from and 2 had Eurovision on!! She just seems such a sweet lovely person and a healthy dose of quirky in there too. I have no recollection of the Irish entrant for that year. Johnny Logan won it the year before!

I first learned of the unique bonkers WTF-ness of Eurovision through Ireland's blessed television gift to the world, Father Ted. Topic? I hope in a couple years Celine meets a great guy who's maybe ten or fifteen years younger than her. You know, to help balance the scales a bit.

I really had to fight the urge to include that episode in the syllabus for a class I'm teaching, but I did put a Eurovision question on the scavenger hunt. Topic? Uh...with Celine's kids getting older, I wonder if she has plans beyond singing/music. Philanthropy?

Aww Father Ted love seeing mention of it here one of the best. The brilliant Dermot Morgan is much missed as is Frank Kelly aka Fr Jack. My lovely Horse Ireland best Eurovision song that never actually was! Topic: Celine won in Dublin in 1988, oh I said that already....😁 Think Twice is a great tune

I saw her in Vegas a few years ago. I wouldn't have called myself a fan before that necessarily but I definitely would call myself a fan afterwards. She gives it her all in concert. A fantastic show.
