Christy and Ed seemed to be a mature couple who wanted all the same things and the breakup was this fluke surprise. I think they probably would have gotten back together regardless of 9/11.
I think both Nick and Jessica were these young C-listers who knew their careers had a quick shelf life and got married because they wanted security, Jessica in particular. She was immature - which simultaneously annoyed Nick and also pleased him because he got to be the "teacher" who lectured her and teased her for being a dummy. He even referred to her as a "project".
Once Jessica's personal brand flourished and the money came rolling in, she no longer needed or wanted a retired boy-bander bossing her around and lecturing her all the time.

Slightly O/T, but did her dad ever come out? I was flipping thru the channels earlier, and saw that Chrissley guy and was reminded of old creepy Joe Simpson.

She's aged very naturally and has a healthy lifestyle. I follow her IG and she seems a genuinely sweet person. |

There is some speculation that he’s not really straight. Christy used to smoke. I vaguely remember that she once was in an anti-smoking PSA. Her dad, who smoked, got emphysema, which prompted her to stop smoking. |

Joe Simpson has a photography business. Not a set of Double D's in the bunch. His photos are like fashion model photography 101, but good for him keeping himself busy with a career of sorts. |
