The first movie rocked my socks! I went on opening day thinking it was a decent way to spend an afternoon out of the sun, hoping against hope that it didn't suck. I was blown away! The story, the concept (I had seen no trailers), the music, ...the Depp. Even my hubby wanted to see it in the theatres again and that rarely happens. So nuttin' but love for Curse of the Black Pearl.
I both look forward to yet am repelled by the idea of the second movie, Dead Man's Chest. The fact that Johnny is back is good. The fact that Bootstrap Bill has been cast is worrisome. (As long as it's only for flashbacks, it's all about the flashbacks.)
ETA that there is a PoC 3 in the works accroding to IMDB. Interesting, non?
Sing these movie's praises or damn them to Davy Jones's locker, your call.
(And it is Caribbean or Caribbean?)

This is a sentiment that I don't understand. When the movie first came out all I read was that Bootstrap could be in the sequel and how it would be such a good idea. I must have read a ton of different plots in which BS Bill was worked into the sequel.
Now it seems like somewhere along the line it wasn't cool anymore and it's a bad idea.

Sexlexia, I have a friend that was born and raised on St. Thomas (in St. Thomas?), and he HATES it when people say Caribbean. So, in my book anyway, Caribbean it is!
Topic? Love me some eyeliner-ed Johnny. Yum.
Edited MUCH later because I cannot spell Caribbean. Even when it is spelled correctly in the title of the thread. What a moron.

Funny, because I say Caribbean differently, depending on the context. For example, I would travel to the Caribbean Islands, but at Disneyland my favorite ride is Pirates of the Caribbean.
I didn't know that Bootstrap was going to be in the sequel. Interesting. I wondered about Bootstrap because even though they basically weighted him down and sent him to the bottom of the sea, he was still in that walking undead phase because of the curse. So he just had to float down there for years, alive but stuck to a cannon? And then when the curse was broken, he was underwater so it's not like he'd survive. It just sucked all around for Poor Bill.
I look forward to the next movie. Loves me some Johnny Depp. He was just amazing in the first movie. Laugh if you want, but I really, truly, though he deserved an Oscar for it.

You're not alone. I wish he would've gotten the Oscar too.

Heh, I do the exact same thing.
I don't really care so much about the plot of the sequel, simply because I know I will have fun watching Johnny play Captain Jack Sparrow. The man just loves to play weirdos and it is great to watch him have so much fun.

I heard that they were filming the 2nd and 3rd films back to back.
I am curious as to what the plots are suppose to be and also how they worked out getting Keira Knightley back. I heard that there were issues with her salary and her schedule.

I saw it for the first time last night on Starz. And thought Keira Knightley's character was quite stupid to want off of that deserted island. She had Johnny Depp on a beach (alone), a bonfire, and alcohol. That's like my idea of heaven. Stupid girl.

Ooh! Look who's playing Bootstrap Bill!I'm intrigued and hopeful. Please, please, Bruckheimer, don't screw this up like you screwed up King Arthur.
