I caught this over the weekend and was really impressed. I mostly went to it becuase the person I wanted to spend the evening with wanted to see it, but now I've started reading In Cold Blood. It's a fantastic movie, but I've found it almost impossible to explain it to anyone in a way that captures how moving and suspenseful it was for me.
The theatre I saw it in was packed. There was not a seat to be had. It looked as though every member of the English faculty from every college within 30 miles had turned up.

I had no idea that Dan Futterman adapted the screenplay from the nove and is a producer for the film! And now he's nominated for an Oscar. I just love him!

I finally saw this. It was amazing. PSH became Capote. In one of the featurettes, someone mentioned that he had grown attached to the community. I felt it in the movie. The way he tells the one girl about how everyone thought they had him pegged and they didn't. It was affectionate and caring, he was geninunely looking out for her.
His interaction with Perry was both puzzling and calcuating. He knew what he wanted Perry to tell, yet he didn't. He enjoyed learning about him -- at any cost, even if it meant prolonging their stay in prison However, he battled with his writer instincts (the perfect ending) and what it would mean. Capote's internal conflict (friendship with Perry vs. the story) was clear and told in PSH's face.
