Saw it yesterday (bless the nice cool movie theatre during this heat wave!)--funny, but could have been much funnier. Without the restrictions of TV I was hoping for something a lot more daring, but it wasn't there. The recasting of the kids who are now too old to play teenagers was done well, though.

So disappointed. Some funny moments but most of the jokes fell falt. The pacing was horrible. I'd rather watch all the recent appearances of Sedaris and Colbert on late night talk shows that sit through the movie again. My two friends, who are huge SWC fans, fell asleep.

I'm the biggest SWC fan I know, and I was also really disapppointed. I laughed a little, and it was pleasing to see those characters up there on the screen, but yeah, the pacing was horrible.
The difference between the presentation and delivery of the line "You can keep it; it's all gummed up" in the series and the movie was to me the ultimate example of what was wrong with the movie. The same jokes, done without the crackerjack timing, delivered by characters whose meaning to each other had been altered slightly. Sarah Blank came off as sort-of believably put-upon in dealing with Jerri, which took away a lot of her snarky humor and evilness.
I wish they'd tried to tell a new story. I wonder if I had never seen the series, if I would have liked it better. It's still a raunchy good time, just not anywhere near as inspired as the series.
My favorite part of the movie was Tammy Littlenut. I think she's so cute.

I dunno, I howled throughout. But then, I'm to the point, after watching the DVDs eleventy thousand times, that just seeing Jerri trying to wink dampens my drawers.*
I think all of the early reports of disappointment had me pre-disappointed, and when it turned out to be not as disappointing as I'd been pre-disappointed to be, I probably give it higher marks than others. Could've used more Paul-Dinello-in-a-speedo, though.
*from laughter. Sheesh.

Oh, my yes, does Paul Dinello look good in a Speedo. Thanks Season 3 DVDs! Due to the mixed reactions here I will probably wait to buy, of course, the movie.

I saw this last night because my friend and I really wanted to see a movie, and he'd already seen Talladega Nights and Little Miss Sunshine isn't open here yet. I'd seen a couple episodes of the show and he hadn't seen any, and we both thought it was insanely funny. We also both said we'd be interested in getting the DVDs now, so maybe it's a good intro for non-fans? I was pretty surprised by how many people were in the theater--there were about 20 people, some of whom were obviously big fans of the show.
