Nick Cage looks sort of gaunt in the trailer.

He looks like he's got the hiv. I think he's a total asshat.

He looks like he's got the hiv. I think he's a total asshat. I find the HIV comment offensive. I saw the trailer before The DaVinci Code last night. I had no problems with United 93 coming out. It didn't bother me, the trailers did nothing for me. This trailer had me in tears. I think it was a combination of the clips and the music and the voiceovers that did it, but I really don' t think I'm going to be able to watch this movie without sobbing. The movie itself looks like it is well done and I like a lot of the people in it. But, if the trailer chokes me up, I can only imagine what the movie will do.

I saw the trailer last night for the first time and I couldn't stop crying until it was over.I don't think I'll be able to watch it. Damn, did they really have to make 2 movies about 9/11 in the same year?

When the trailer came on last night during Da Vinci Code, almost everybody in the theatre sighed and tittered. I thought the trailer looked a little schmaltzy (is that even a word? Do I even know what that means?). Like, it was trying to evoke the tears.

I agree, Bobblehead. I think the United trailer (I didn't see the movie) was far more chilling because it was so understated. No well-known actors, no dramatic scores. I think that was far more tasteful than this one. I mean, they day was so tragic you need not pull any punches to evoke tears. I was almost offended how clearly maniupulative that trailer was. This is a story that tells itself. I say kudos to Greengrass b/c I think he handled this subject with the delicacy it deserves. The trailer made Sept. 11 seem like just another Cage summer blockbuster.

I posted in the United 93 thread that I plan to see that one when it's on DVD, because I just don't think I'll be able to see it without sobbing, and it's something that I'd like to just be able to do in my own home. And I feel the same here with this movie. Even though this one is clearly more "Hollywood", I have the same feeling about it. As did I.

Damn, did they really have to make 2 movies about 9/11 in the same year? From a business standpoint, why not? Hollywood has a grand tradition of releasing 'similar' movies from different studios because it was the trendy thing to do. Asteroid movies, volcano movies, whatever. If it makes money, Hollywood will do it, or copy someone else to get a piece of the pie. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but from a purely business standpoint, that's just the way Hollywood does things, and I reject the notion of 'cause through film' when it comes to the major studios.

It says it's a "true story." I presume then that the Nic Cage character and the other guy die, because no one was rescued from the rubble, were they?
