I liked it. Meryl Streep of course stole the show both with her acting and her singing. She has a beautiful voice. If you haven't seen Postcards from the Edge, you should absolutely rent it. That was the first time I realized what a beautiful singing voice Meryl Streep actually has. And for me, that makes PHC a bonus - Meryl Streep is going to sing again? I'm there!

I'm going to have to see this, too. It took some careful weighing: I despise Garrison K (insider bragging: years ago I used to work at the theater where APHC was performed and also lived right around the corner from him) and am pretty unimpressed with Robert Altman, but my love for Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin outweighs all else.
Seeing the previews made me want to rent "Postcards" again -- what a terrific movie that was.

I went this hot afternoon up here in Northern VA and enjoyed the movie. It really is a slice of life film. There is a beginning and ending but in the middle the movie just happens. Altman's shots - darkly lit with stage lighting looked great on the silver screen and the sound was perfect, but I am not sure how good they are going to look on DVD. The few people in the theater with me didn't really laugh outloud that much as we were all just sort of taking it in. Nusan the Bad Jokes song caught me off guard and was indeed hilarious! (as was Kevin Kline's character in the last diner shot.) I have to say that it is a shame that Woody Harrelson is not in more movies as he and John C Reilly really shine here in their supporting roles. I really wish they had done an "out on the range" skit too. Virginia Madsen looked smoking hot here as well. I would say better than she did in Sideways. If you like the rambling nature of real life like the numerous stories here then you will love the film. If you want a plot driven show that ties up all loose ends by the credits then you will not enjoy this film. One note, I couldn't figure out what Lindsay Lohan's character had become in the end. A professional manager? And why power of attorney did she know something we didn't? Definitely makes me want me to actually attend a live showing sometime though. Small point - I liked Maya Rudolph's character a lot as the annoyed stagehand, but had to admit I felt real uncomfortable with the champagne scene. I know it is fake but couldn't figure out why that was in there.

I just saw this today with my mom. It wouldn't have been something I would have gone to on my own, I would have waited for DVD, but my mom really wanted to see it.
I enjoyed it immensly. It was nice to watch a movie where you didn't have to think, and I haven't been that entertained in a while. Being the dork that I am, I had no idea that GK sang, I just thought he told stories. Meryl was fabulous and loved her with Lily. I agree with sjankis630 in that Woody & John C. Reilly were outstanding. They worked very well together and their voices were a great blend.
I really liked the movie and my mom did too.

I loved it up until the end--WTH was going on there? I could not even come close to understanding what they were going for. Kevin Kline was hilarious with the pointing, though.
