Why must you mock me?
I love horror movies and books--but this movie scared me. I know that bitch is under my bed.
I think I just have a problem with the whole Japanese ghosts thing. The way their hair is in front of their face--I don't know, freaks me out.
I laughed at The Ring though, so maybe I'm just odd.

The Grudge didn't scare me a bit ( The Ring still scares the hell out of me) but The Grudge 2 looks pretty creepy. I love SMG so I will definately be seeing it.

Petals and I have actually discussed this in another thread, but that japanese ghost scared the poop out of me too.
I watch a lot of horror movies. It is usually very hard to scare me. I don't know what it is about this movie that scares me, but when I first saw it in the theater, I literally almost had a panic attack during the whole part with the sister in the office building/apartment. I was seriously breaking into a cold sweat, and my heart was in my throat.
I agree with Petals. That bitch will forever live under the covers of my bed, just below where my feet can reach.
ETA: The Ring did NOTHING for me. It's weird.

I think this movie is fundamentally different from Western ghost/horror movies because here people who died under those circumstances would just sort of bug the living until someone solved their murder, then they'd rest. It seems sort of mean to me that people murdered so violently would be made to be so evil in the afterlife.

Are you talking about The Grudge with Buffy, or the Japanese Ju-On? Because the original was way-creepy (I have a fondness for double-jointed, herky-jerky, relentlessly-pursuing, dead chicks with hair over their faces, but I'm working through that in therapy). The only thing the Buffy version had that was scary was when my friend Quinn screamed like a girl getting murdered when he dropped his drink on the floor.

The Grudge was such a waste of time (the US one, not the Japanese one), I'm angry I spent about 2 hours watching that crap. The house blows up and Buffy isn't killed? Come on.

I just don't get why these dead people staring at you would make you die.

Smart people make for boring movies, Moldy. I don't like SMG, and I was hoping she'd die. But when that woman comes down those steps at her, it freaks me out. You guys aren't listening to me--she's under my bed!

I did jump at one scene in "The Grudge" when the Japanese girl goes and investigates the noise in the closet (yes, Moldy--she was dumb-bunny) and she pokes her head up and the camera pans around and you see the ghost (who's now under Petal's bed) just staring...I still shudder.
