I liked this thread at the old site, even though I have almost none myself.
Just Friends is shooting in my city right now. It's a movie starring Amy Smart, Ryan Reynolds and Chris Klein. I haven't seen any of them (I'm hoping to see Ryan) but my friend, who was working at a music store, helped Amy Smart with a piano problem or something. She said Amy is not pretty at all. She was dressed grubby and had bad skin.
The Tommy Douglas Story is also shooting here. I was an extra in a few of the scenes (you'll be able to see me in it when it airs!). The only famous-type person in it is Don McKellar. I didn't really see much of him. The guy playing Tommy isn't famous, but was very friendly. You should all love him.

They used my old appartment to film a scene from The Bone Collector. Angelina Jolie used my bathroom! Back then (1998) I didn't know who the heck she was, but she sure was purdy.
The bitter irony is that three years after filming a movie in my house about a quadriplegic, I had a car accident and became a quadriplegic.

Oliver Stone was at my university last week giving a presentation about film-making. I would've gone except that part of the program was watching Alexander and there is just no. way. I will see that movie.

Thanks Moldy Tofu! I'm still getting a feel for things and couldn't find the thread! Good to see some familiar screen names!

My parents have the best celebrity encounters.
Dad has met George Harrison, Paul Newman, Lena Horne, Aretha Franklin, Donald Trump, Russell Simmons, Tom Brady, and probably more that I'm forgetting about.
Mom has met Dolph Lundgren, Mike Myers, Jerry Van xxxx, Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, and Bob Seger.
Each of these encounters has a funny story, but I don't want to take up too much space.

I've seen Kate Hudson, Colin Farrel and John Travolta.
When I was about 9 or 10, Will Smith was playing basketball in a local gym, and me and a bunch of other young boys my age wanted his autograph (c'mon, he was Fresh Prince back then!), and he wouldn't give it to us. I've totally held a grudge against him because of it, but I have heard that he's nice to his fans now, so whatever.
By far my best encounter was with my favorite actress of all time, Meryl Streep. My friend and I saw her and were just shocked. It was, for me, like meeting royalty. We got up the nerve to talk to her, and compliment her on her movies, acting, Academy Award nomination (Adaptation), wished her good luck and she was so nice to us. She called us sweet and indulged us. She even took a picture with us, which is framed in my room. It's totally dorky, but I love her even more now because she was so kind to us and really took her time with us when I'm sure she had better things to do. She really is all kinds of awesome!

Spike Lee came to my school awhile back to speak. He was a royal ass. The end.

Mrs. Topher convinced me to live in the high class apartment tower in Chicago. While walking into the lobby one day, I almost ran over John Malkovich. He was taller than me (6'3") and was wearing a berret. Keeanu Reeve moved out a month before we moved in. He was staying there while shooting a movie.
I was dumbstruck when I saw Stephen Hawking at the Palmer House.

Awww, mrpancake, so nice to hear that Meryl Streep is cool with her fans. I think she's faboo.
Nicest, nicest, nicest celeb encounter ever? Hands down it was meeting the late, great Mel Blanc, who spoke at my college 20+ years ago. Not only did he humor all the awe-struck students who clustered around after the show by "doing" whatever voice they demanded of him, he charmed those of us working the event by thanking us in our favorite cartoon voices, too...so I got thanked by Marvin the Martian and Henery The Chickenhawk. Coolest thing EVER, and you feel about 5 years old when it's happening. Close your eyes, and it's really Bugs Bunny or Tweety Bird right there in the room with you...strangely, ordering a Coca cola and some grapes from the buffet table. He was teeny and that kind of ugly-old-guy cute that made you want to hug him. Everyone just loved him.
Runner-up in the nice male celeb stakes: Derek Jacobi (despite visible stage fright) and Jeremy Irons (the latter bought a round of drinks for a group of students, which was cool of him).
Nicest female celeb? Dame Judi Dench...very sweet and mom-like and infinitely patient with theatre students and fans. She just had this immense warmth and down-to-earth manner; everyone who met her was bowled over by how decent she was. Have followed her career ever since...she deserves every great role and award they toss her way, as far as I'm concerned!
ETA One of the reasons we were all so shocked at Judi Dench's sweet nature was the fact that we'd just watched her play one seriously badass Lady Macbeth! If you get a chance, there's a BBC tape of the performance.

I live in Pittsburgh, where umpty ump movies are filmed, but I have yet to even spot a single celebrity. However my mom was an extra in "Sudden Death" and while she didn't get to meet Jean Claude Van Damme, she got close enough to notice how utterly short he is.
My cousin's husband was a security guard on the set of Silence of the Lambs and claims he advised Jodie Foster to visit a well-known local pizza joint (Vincent's Pizza Park in Forest Hills, about a mile up the road from the industrial park where the asylum and basement scenes were filmed, for any Pittsburghers on the board). A friend who was an EMT at the time worked on the set of Innocent Blood and met Anthony LaPaglia and Anne Parillaud. I don't remember what she said about Anthony L. but she said that AP was a real bitch.
