Brian Dennehy lives in the next town over. Everyone I know has seen him except me. Mr. Bones met him in McDonald's (this strikes me as funny, for some reason), and a friend of mine has a daughter that goes to school w/ one of his kids. He's pretty reserved in person - not snobby or anything. Just not flashy. I'm told he actually wears thick-framed black glasses and has a fondness for flannel shirts.
Barbra Streisand has a relative that owns a horse farm in the same town, and a few people I know have spotted her around.
Mr. Bones also used to mow Big Bird's lawn. His real name is Caroll Spinney. After the mowing was done, Bird lit up a joint and passed it around to the whole landscaping crew.
Last but not least, Mr. Bones was shopping at Walmart the other night and ran into Renee Zellweger. There were tons of people clustered around her. but Mr. Bones overheard her say thst she moved out here to Woodstock, CT to live closer to her boyfriend, Jack White.

My parents have the best celebrity encounters. Dad has met George Harrison, Paul Newman, Lena Horne, Aretha Franklin, Donald Trump, Russell Simmons, Tom Brady, and probably more that I'm forgetting about. Mom has met Dolph Lundgren, Mike Myers, Jerry Van d**e, Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, and Bob Seger. Each of these encounters has a funny story, but I don't want to take up too much space. I want to read the Dolph Lundgren story. Don't make me beg, it won't be pretty.

Hee! sueli, it was the early nineties in the streets of NYC. My mom was waiting to cross the street. She looked over to see, as she told me later, the most beautiful man standing next to her. Because of my love for "Masters of the Universe" growing up, she knew immediately who it was, and before she could stop herself, blurted out, "You are so chiseled, you could be a statue." He turned, smiled at her and said, "Thanks!"

Jennifer Love Hewitt was taping some Mtv special at the Old Lahaina Luau when me and my husband were there on our honeymoon. I looked up, and suddenly there was this camera crew about 20 paces ahead of me, and J-LoHew was up on the low rock wall separating the beach from the Luau area, prancing around and doing several takes as she said her little schpiel. No one was allowed to come near her or take her picture (even tho' I begged and begged dh to zoom in on her from afar--he refused). Afterwards, she watched the show from up in a little hut far above the stage with her camera crew, and you couldn't see her b/c it was dark. I never got the chance to talk to her to know what she was like, but she looked just as pretty in person (of course, she was all done up for the Mtv thing, and I didn't get to see her up-close, so who knows?). Oh, and I saw Elvis' cousin at a Wendy's in Branson when I was 12. (he's an Elvis impersonater, too).

In college, I took a music class. Justin Jeffre was a guest speaker one day. I think he talked about being in 98 Degrees and living in Cincinnati. When he was done speaking, the professor said we could get Justin's autograph. No one got up right away to get it.

I loved this thread at the other site too!
About 8 years ago I was in NYC for a conference at a really nice hotel. I was hanging around a small lobby off a side entrance when I saw this old man walking towards me - I thought it looked like Abe Vigoda and was mortified - because I was sure he was dead.
Lo & behold it was Abe. Unfortunatly I stood slack-jawed staring , assuming it was a reanimated corpse. I think he knew it too because he gave me this weary look like "yeah, I'm used to people thinking I was dead."
Leonard Nimoy sat alone next to us at a restaurant a couple of years ago. He was quiet, and looked so old. He treated the waitress nicely. I didn't say anything to him because it seemed like it would be a big intrusion...and I wasn't sure if he was perhaps reanimated too.
Many years ago I saw The Judds get in an argument. Wynonna said she wanted a coke. The mother said "why don't you get a diet." Wynonna threw a fit - in front of about 350 people.

A few years ago my husband I sat down for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in Old Orchard Mall outside of Chicago and Jerry Springer was having dinner with his daughter across the aisle. I quizzed our waiter after Jerry left and he said that he's always nice and tips well. It was sort of cute when he got up to leave because he started walking away without realizing that his daughter had her purse caught in the booth and wasn't with him. He came back a second later all apologetic saying "I'm so sorry--I thought you were right behind me!"
Last fall we were playing blackjack at Mandalay Bay at 2 in the morning or so and Eddie Van Halen was playing at the next table. He looked awful.
I saw two directors speak in college--Kevin Smith and Oliver Stone. I was worried Smith was going to be the stereotypical director and talk about the importance of cinema, but he was so cool. My Jersey-native husband got his autograph afterward, and they discussed exits on the Garden State Parkway. Oliver Stone was the complete opposite--such an asshole, made dirtbag comments about women in the audience and insulted "Clerks." Something about what a waste of film it is to make a movie about two guys in a grocery store. That didn't go over with the crowd too well.

MaryWebGirl, you reminded me of another encounter I had a few years ago. I was working at Foxwoods Casino in CT and Kenny Rogers came in to play poker. He wasn't at my pit, but I've always wondered if he plays like the guy in his song.
John Kerry is friends w/ Mr. Bones' ex-boss, and back in 1997/98, he stopped by to talk to the guy in charge. While he was there, he stopped and shook hands w/ the employees. Unfortunately for Mr. Bones, he's a Republican, so he wasn't exactly impressed.
While in Boston, we crossed paths w/ Mike Barnacle. That, of course, was a different story in Mr. BonesLand. He was practically drooling.
This isn't exactly an encounter, but a few years ago, Terry Glenn bought a house down the street from my mom's place, and there was a picture of him in the local paper eating pizza w/ Drew Bledsoe at a local pizza parlor.
