I had the pleasure of seeing Denzel Washington, Colm Feore, and Those Other Guys in "Julius Caesar" on Wednesday. After the show, I saw Jessica Hecht (who played Portia) leave, but unfortunately, nobody else. Afterwards, I spotted Adam Duritz on Madison Avenue. I was surprisingly excited about that.
Also, news anchor Roz Abrams comes into the store I work in from time to time. She's nice and polite, and buys a lot of candles.

I had the pleasure of meeting Will Ferrell on Monday. Really nice friendly guy, but I was surprised by how thin he is. Seemed to get a kick out of all the college kids gawking at him filming scenes (we are not used to big movie productions outside of our classrooms.)
My boyfriend ran into Dustin Hoffman in the men's washroom (apparently he is not a hand washer, yuck), and then saw him again walking to the cafeteria for lunch. He also was said to be very polite and said hello to passerbyers. It was a pretty open set, so students could walk right up to the filming and watch.
Both are filming the dark comedy Stranger Than Fiction on my school's campus (University Of Illinois-Chicago) including in my trig. classroom.
Also Queen Latifah and Emma Thompson are suppossed to start filming on campus this week, including the swimming pool.

Just got back from Vegas and had a few celebrity sightings...
The new Wynn hotel opened on Wednesday, and we were there the first Friday that it was open, so there were some big crowds. We ran into a huge group of people and just figured that they were oohing and ahhing over the gorgeous hotel, and then my friend points to my left and literally three feet away was Patti LaBelle. She was gorgeous, nice, and was stopping to talk and take pictures with everyone, even though some guy was clearly trying to pull her out of the crowd. There was another woman with her, who was younger and also gorgeous and nice, and she looked familiar, but I couldn't place who she was.
My friend and I walked around a bit more, and as we were leaving, we saw another crowd gathering. We figured it was just for Patti LaBelle again, but as we got closer, we saw that a jewelery shop had been closed down for a celebrity and there were six or seven guards outside. I asked a lady next to me who was inside, and it was Donald Trump and his wife, shopping for jewelery. I took some pictures through the window; he looks exactly like he does on TV, and she (Melania) is gorgeous. She had on an amazing purple dress and was trying on every piece of jewelery in the store.
Another friend I was there with also saw Tobey Maguire at the poker tables, but I missed him.

Why have I never seen this topic, before? Living In Toronto, it is possible to see many celebrities because they are often here to film... One sighting off the top of my head was Marriah Carey. This was a few years ago. She was shoe shopping in Holts and was trying on every shoe in the store. She was sitting almost next to me. We have the same size feet (big) and luckily she was not interested in the Robert Clergeries or the sensible Prada flats, so I was lucky enough to get the one nice pair I wanted... while she bought quite a few pairs of the really high Manolo type heels that I can't believe people can actually walk in...

Speaking of Toronto and big feet, I walked by Paris Hilton today (in Toronto to promote her "movie"). I didn't get a good look as there were about a dozen teenaged girls squealing like hyenas around her. I generally have a strict policy of ignoring everything that has to do with that girl, but sometimes it's unavoidable. It would help if she and her clown feet would stay away from my city.
Not a great story, but recent.

I have a good one, although it involves a boring celeb. This one actually happened to a friend of mine but I thought I'd tell it here. Celeb in question is Roger Ebert. My friend was seated next to Mr Ebert and his young female companion at a ritzy Chicago restaurant (late 90's). Apparently, throughtout the entire dinner with his date, Mr E. talked about computer software and the woman said nothing as her eyes glazed over. My friend was leaving at the same time and, as they (Mr E. and his date) walked out of the restaurant, and after boring the sh** out of her for over an hour, he apparently eyed her handbag and made a comment along the lines of: "You know, they say you can tell what a woman's genitalia look like by looking at what kind of handbag she carries."
Ahem. Wonder if that charming line did the trick?

Man, I always knew Ebert was a perv, but I didn't know he was that bad. I hope she beat him over the head with said handbag.

Ew! Mr. E has been married for at least 10 years. I wonder to whom he felt so free making a comment like that.
Along those same lines...A female friend of one of my acting teachers was set up on a date with the aforementioned Mr. E. This was before he was married, years before, and also years before he got sick and lost all that weight. The arrangement was for her to meet him at his place, then they would go out to dinner at a restaurant. When the friend arrived at Chez E, Mr. E answered the door wearing an open bathrobe. Only an open bathrobe.

Saw Dan Akroyd at the Billy Crystal show last night. He is fat, balding and generally unattractive.

::sob:: This thread is killing my Roger Ebert love! ("Love" in the sense of "like his reviews and his taste in movies," not in the sense of "wanna jump his bones," just to clarify.)
Anyway, tonight we went out to eat, and Jason Scott Lee was sitting at the next table, playing host to a party of visiting mainlanders. He was in my direct line of sight, which is why I noticed him, but I was in his direct line of sight, so I couldn't openly gawk or point him out to my family or anything. I ended up watching his reflection in the window a fair bit when conversation flagged at my table. He's not really more handsome than a half-dozen other local guys, but very striking.
