Warning: this is a DC Celebrity spotting so as a rule it is much less cool.
After the Nationals game last night I was waiting for a train at the metro station (with about 15,000 other people). The place is packed and everyone is crowding up to the ledge. All of a sudden, Ted Kennedy strolls by on the "danger zone" portion of the platform (that section where they don't like you to stand because you're too close to the trains).
He definitely looked tipsy AND he was an asshole for cutting in front of all those people.
But the real question is, why would a Senator ride the subway?

Oh, razzy, that reminds me -- big deal, but I saw Michael Dukakis entering the subway, once. I had just gone through the turnstiles and heard the guy in the booth go, "Mornin', Guv'ner!" I thought he was greeting just any old someone in that "Hey, buddy," kind of way. But I glanced around and there was Dukakis coming through. I guess it was always a thing of his to take the trains like the 'regular' people. Man, that guy is diminuative! Oh, and come to think of it, at a brand new building I worked at briefly, Kitty Dukakis did the dedication. That woman was wound so tight you could feel the tension in the air surrounding her. My boss had been planning on introducing some of us to her but I think he took one look and thought, "Uh oh, not a good idea..."
And I'm positive I saw Ben Affleck in downtown Boston (well, Government Center, for those who know the area). It was right after the Jennifer Lopez breakup, I believe. Big, scruffy, unkempt, wearing a big rugby shirt. Needed a shave, badly.

Yup, born and raised on the Big Island, MaryWebGirl, but I think most of the vacationing celebrities must hide out in exclusive resorts and stuff--I've hardly seen anyone. My dad saw the Crown Prince of Japan in the airport VIP lounge, though. His bodyguards and entourage had made a circle of chairs around him, and he was sitting bolt upright on the edge of his chair primly drinking a cup of tea. It must suck to be a member of the Imperial Family.

When I lived in Baltimore I got to see the actors from Homicide a few times. Kyle Secor is hot!

I was there from 94-99. And yes, you're quite right. He was only ever spotted at the meat markets. It was like his natural habitat - they should have done a Hinterland Who's Who about him.
Were you there when he had that bar called Aykroyd's? It was the one with the replica Blues Brothers car smashed into the wall. We snuck into one of his private parties once and he was there with Bill Murray and the Tragically Hip.
And now I feel like a jerk about being mean to that fat slob so I should probably add that when I was a wee one (I grew up in Kingston) the brother of a girl in my class was paralyzed in an accident. He has a house on the same lake that they lived on and somehow heard about it and rented out an entire movie theatre for the kids and all of their friends to see "The Great Outdoors" and bought us all drinks and popcorn. He also visited their family which was nice of him.
So I guess the moral of this story is: Dan Aykroyd: nice to kids, sleazy to young women.

Isn't Kitty Dukakis supposed to suffer from depression? I know she had a severe drinking problem, and who knows what else went along with that... I recall after Dukakis lost his bid for the presidency, she actually admitted she would have been a disaster as First Lady.

Continuing with political sightings...When I was working at a big philanthropic foundation, I saw now-Illinois Representative Rahm Emanuel come in for a meeting . He asked me where the conference room was. He defines diminutive, but is really quite handsome in person. Last year I saw him again at the Gay Pride Parade, and he pointed right at me and waved. Coincidence? I think not! Former President Gerald Ford was the keynote speaker at a conference I attended while in college. He looked exactly how he looked when he was in office. And I met Bill Clinton. Hubba-hubba.

I met Cameron Crowe just a few weeks ago and he was the nicest man. I was all shaky and nervous but he was laughing at me and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say. We chatted for like 10 minutes or so and he was asking me all sorts of questions about my job, and what music I was listening to. It was so great. He was on my list of all time people I had to meet someday. I can cross that one off the list.
Funny cause we were at a party for Pearl Jam and everyone was fawning over Eddie Vedder and I just swooped over to the Crowe.

I met Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction Friday night. He was DJing at a local bar - very, very nice guy, down to earth. We chatted a bit about music and such and then I watched him DJ. If you can tell by my name, I am a huge fan, so this was truly an evening I will never forget. Saturday evening I hung out with singer Faith Evans , she was a very cool woman.
