Aw, you beat me to it! I'd never heard of his sexuality one way or the other, but I'm glad they could finally get married.

I wonder if the reason he got irritated by all the Rock Hudson jokes is that he felt it disrespected his actual boyfriend?

I remember hearing he was gay a long time ago but I also thought he had passed away as well. Oops!

When I told my dad he was like "I thought everyone knew he was gay?" and I had to explain that you can think you know someone is gay, but unless they've come out themselves its just speculation. He was confused.

Clive Davis just released his autobiography and reveals he's bisexual. He's been married twice to women and had a two decade relationship with a man after his second divorce. He's 80 so better late coming out than never, I guess.

I'm only surprised Our Dread Lord actually revealed it publicly. In the Idol fandom there were rumors he took a special liking to Mario Vazquez, the Wilmer Valderrama-esque drop out several years back.

Anybody else sort of interested in Michelle Shocked's rant? I used to hear her name in the late 80s/early 90s but I never actually heard one of her songs. I know her best for having a tiny cameo on Dharma and Greg. It sounds like she's a Sinead O'Connor style crazy person. She came out as a lesbian a long time ago, then became a born again Christian, and now is anti-gay. She's also anti-abortion and had her tubes tied as "the ultimate sacrifice" so she could protest abortion without ever having to worry about being called a hypocrite.

Yeah, this is all over my FB today. Interestingly, The Advocate says she was "rumored to be a lesbian" early in her career, whereas the article you linked says she was actually out at one point.
Either way, I vote closetcase. (I know. Really going out on a limb, eh?)

Shocked sounds like a self-loathing mess. In her honor, please enjoy The ultimate anti-gay marriage ad. The look on the little girl's face at the end is perfect. ETA: 10 out of her remaining 11 shows have been canceled because the venues don't want her. Way to torpedo your career, lady.

She's also anti-abortion and had her tubes tied as "the ultimate sacrifice" so she could protest abortion without ever having to worry about being called a hypocrite. According to her Wikipedia entry, her actual coming out as a lesbian is a little ambiguous (paging Jodie Foster). Nevertheless, it's certainly odd that a quasi-xxxx alternative modern music artist would have homophobic views, even under the influence of evangelical Christianity. Who says God doesn't have a sense of humour? It's probably telling that she spent some time during her teens in a mental health institution. I wouldn't be surprised if her homophobia was rooted in her mental health issues rather than a strongly held religious/philosophical position. Regardless, it's unfortunate to see prejudice advocated, especially by someone who should, for many reasons, know better. A good followup on this from The Hollywood Reporter.
