I think being gay in Hollywood has moved away from deemphasizing an actor's sexual orientation because Middle America might disapprove to doing so because it creates an enormous amount of pressure and assigns a very intense set of rules on an actor and the show or movie itself. When they want a project to succeed, they want it to do so with not a lot of hubbub. These days, an actor coming out of the closet gets drafted into a big, loud battle which would threaten to overwhelm the land being battled for. Just my two cents.

Bob Harper, one of the trainers on The Biggest Loser has come out. linkI don't really watch that show, but when I do he seems like a total sweetheart. It's really touching that he decided to come out publicly (my understanding is that he was out like Matt Bomer was out and had just never made a public statement until now) to support a contestant on the show who hopes to come out to his father. ETA: He's 48? Damn. Looking good, Bob. Looking good. |

Nice! I know earlier I had wondered if Bob was actually gay because the Southern Male thing has jammed my gaydar like crazy--and I know this is not imaginary because several friends who are actually gay themselves have reported the same thing. Anyway, good for him.

I swore he was already out. He's quite the ad for clean, healthy living because he looks 10 years younger than he is. And delicious.
