When I was your age, Kevin Bacon had long, flowing, feathered hair that would whip seductively in the wind.
... movie credits were always in large block text, and were often colored creatively.
... Kirsten Dunst hadn't reached puberty yet. In fact, she was a tiny, curly haired moppet w/ fangs and a thing for older men.

When I was your age Will Smith was but a wee punk from West Philly (born and raised).
...John Travolta was where he belonged (in the bowels of celebrity) and
...no one knew what a destructive force the Mickey Mouse Club would one day be.

...Saturday Night Live was funny! And Michael Jackson was African American! (Remember the Victory Tour? I was going, "victory over what? Melanin?")

Over his lil' spat w/Jealous Jermaine.
When I was your age, there were plenny o' females making music who could actually *sing* and *write songs* instead of just doing annoying vocal runs and humping things and showing their bellies.

When I was your age...
Drew Barrymore was an adorable li'l 5-year-old moppet who took direction pretty well for someone who couldn't write her own last name without help yet.
Tab and Fresca were the diet beverages of choice.
TV commercials were a minute long, and all TV shows had theme songs.
MTV actually played videos...all 20 of them.
Internet? Is that something from Battlestar Galactica?
Mullets roamed the Earth.

They still do in my neck o'the woods.
When I was your age: we didn't have such newfangled things like VCRs. If you missed an episode of your favorite TV show, that was it, unless you caught it on the summer rerun. But since the summer rerun season was only about 13 eps long, the odds were grim. (A TV season was a season in those days, by gum!)

When I was your age:
We had to get our celeb gossip from the pages of "Rona Barrett's Hollywood". There was no "Entertainment Tonight", nor any of its many incarnations (I'm looking at YOU "Celebrity Justice").
If you wanted to call someone, you picked up a phone and dialled it (an actual round dial that spun). Touch tone? what the heck is that? Cell phones? The only thing close was a 'car phone' which rich people had in their limos. Phones were also a standard black. To upgrade to beige or another color was more money and you actually rented your phone from the phone company. Buying a phone? never. No one did it. I remember buying our first phone and my parents were very stressed. What if it broke?
Letter writing was an art. Stationary was your form of expressing yourself. No smilies or icons.
School work was actually typed on a typewriter! Errors were fixed with white tape or whiteout. No spell check, no back space. We roughed it.
Research for school was actually done in a library. With books. Nowadays my kids can barely spell library. And research means 'surfing the net for 5 minutes'.
VCR's were a luxury. We had a BETA machine and thought we were the coolest. Hey the tapes were smaller than VHS and we were sure it would take off.
Renting movies was expensive. And they made you buy insurance for them. No video rental chains, just small 'mom and pop' shops. We would line up out the door on a Friday night just to rent "Road Warrior". And then, you'd watch the movie 20 times in a weekend just to get your money's worth.
T.V. I remember walking up to our black and white set and having to turn a dial to turn the channel. My parents say that's how I learned to count. Then the 70's hit and we had a cable box with a long cord attached to the t.v. You could SIT ON THE COUCH and turn channels. Man, we had it MADE!
Soda or Pop was a luxury item you could only have on weekends. One glass per kid. One bag of chips for a family of 6. We ate out once every couple of months and it was an event.
Going to the theatre to see a movie was even rarer. Buying snacks unheard of. We were allowed one box of cold unbuttered popcorn each and no drinks.
People smoked everywhere. In your office, in the seat next to you on the plane, in the movie theatre, etc.
good times.

When I was your age...
... computers were the size of Volkswagon bugs, and only men in white coats controlled them in vastly large and frigidly air-conditioned environments. But these computers had less processing power than the old laptop you gave your kid last week to use as a frisbee.

When I was your age...
Tom Cruise danced in his underwear and people actually thought it was sexy.
