But the truth is, like so many other kids, they lost their father years ago. What they truly lost on December 3rd was hope. Wow. Just wow. I don't mean to sound trite but that declaration was just so deep. I can't help but wonder whether something like that will go through the mind of Denise Richards once Charlie Sheen passes.

I read his (Scott Weiland's) autobiography a couple of years ago and I have Mary Weiland's (the ex-wife) book on hold at the library to pick up later on today. We watched several Youtube videos of STP over the weekend. He had such a beautiful voice.

I just finished watching some Stone Temple Pilot videos and, wow, Scott was really talented and sexy in them. Watching the video for Interstate Love Song took me back to a very specific time and place in my life...it's hard to realize it was so long ago now. I was never a die-hard fan, but I liked some of their hits. Why were they considered hacks? They seemed to personify the grunge aesthetic of the time.
I went from watching Stone Temple Pilots video to one by Audioslave. As far as I know Chris Cornell is still doing well in sobriety. It's really terrible that some people make it and some people don't, but that's the way it goes. Statistically, the ones who don't make it outnumber the ones that do.

Deadspin wrote a decent obituary with some thoughts on why STP and Weiland were branded as corny in the beginning.

Or Frances Bean Cobain once Courtney shuffles off this mortal coil.

Good luck to her. I know she's been dealing with addiction since forever, but I have a soft spot for her. I saw her perform with Rufus when I was just a kid.

Between her father and her mother's infatuation with Scientology, I'm afraid Lisa Marie never stood a chance. Best of luck to her.
