At this moment in time if you want job propects go to WA or in some sectors the NT, SA is still going pretty strong too I think. TAS well, this whole country is the assend of the world, and with TAS even more so, I went for about 3 months before I left, its not that far but it is. But I live in Newcastle and get frustrated about how far away we are, so take that into account. It was a great place but just not for me, beautiful though. Oh and yeah take warm clothes.

You see Brisbane as hell? Why? I've only been there once, but I don't remember it being all that bad... And I don't know about the job prospects in Tassie, but one thing I will say: bring warm clothes. Brrrrrrrr! It's lovely in January, but in July, it's pretty chilly. Nah, Brisvegas is a lovely place, but it's bloody hot. I don't mind warm weather, but not on a year-round basis. As for Tassie being too cold, as long as I don't have to shovel snow ever again, I don't mind. I just want somewhere in Australia that has real seasons.

Mr Yossarian and I periodically talk about moving to Tasmania. Typically this conversation takes place in February when Sydney is so bloody steamy and humid and uncomfortable. I don't know what we'd actually do in Tasmania (besides not have frizzy hair) but it's so pretty and the real estate is so cheap. I think the trick would be to somehow get a job there with a mainland wage so that you'd have lots of money to travel and get various goodies shipped to you; I just don't know how to make this plan happen!

I've been looking at house prices in Tassie . . . it's like the Kmart of real estate. Only prettier. Anyway, if you ever discover this job with mainland wages, you let me know immediately, yeah?

TAS well, this whole country is the assend of the world, and with TAS even more so, I went for about 3 months before I left, its not that far but it is. I still remember when then Prime Minister Paul Keating referred to Melbourne as "the arse end of the world". I really wanted to put that as my location when I first signed up to this board but it wouldn't fit. Bummer. It cracks me up that our pollies can be so damn blunt. After Keating the insults seemed to taper off a bit until a very brief shining moment when it looked like Mark Latham was a Keating-level insult slinger when he called our current PM an "arse licker". What a pity Latham turned out to be crazy.

Yes it was a pity.
I, also, have fantasies of moving to Tassie during a Queensland summer.

I'm partial to sandstone, herb gardens and, oh, maybe a fruit orchard. A roaring fireplace would be good too. What are your requirements?
