I read the other day that the house from The Castle is up for sale. Inluding the profitable business of selling movie merchandise off the front porch.
Thats almost worth moving to Australia for.
Almost.

What about Warnie? Won't somebody think of Warnie?
(It's relevant to pop culture, he's going to be on Neighbours, you know).

I can't believe my first post here is going to be about Shane fricking Warne, but I've just got to ask - WTF ? Is he going to be playing himself, or is he going to be - oh god - acting ?
Neighbours and Shane Warne ... the two things I hate most in the entire world. I need to go and cry now.

Well that's because we're all so fit and tanned and shiny, and eternally youthful ( Never mind the aging effects of the harsh sun.) It's all those pie floaters and shrimps. Shrimps? As Rove would say"What the?" They're prawns mate.
Anyone old enough to remember Barry McKenzie? - now there's a rich source of quotes and colourful expressions, "Don't come the raw prawn" being a classic example.

Shane Warne...oh, Dear Lord, Warney...where shall I begin?
I've heard a lot of Aussies say that Steve Irwin is the most embarrassing thing to come out of our beloved homeland. If you ask me, nope, it isn't even close; I can quite honestly say that Warney is the *only* thing that makes me hide my head and wish I had a different accent.
He's like Bode Miller...no, scratch that, he's *worse* than Bode Miller--he's a Bode Miller wannabe. He leeches money out of everyone and everything, he's the most egotistical person this side of Gwyneth Paltrow, and yet somehow, he is still lauded as this great Australian sex symbol. Disregarding the fact that the bloke has gotten *way* too much sun over the years (and subsequently looks like some ridiculous 60 year old who bleaches his hair and puts six kilos of jelly in it), his personality just ruins any potential for sexiness. I just want to shake people and say to them, "He's ugly! Ugly! Spell it with me, U-G-L-Y! Am I the only Aussie who has eyes that function? And, on top of all of that, he's also an asshole!...who is UGLY!"
So, having ranted for a sufficient amount of time, my final statement: good cricket player, frightening embarrassment of a national "hero". I wouldn't give him the time of day, much less a TimTam.

Great description, ximena. I think the worst thing about him is that he obviously thinks he's the hotness, what with all the text message scandals and whatnot. He's just hideous. I did think it was hilarious when he was sponsored by the quit-smoking people, and was then caught puffing on a cigarette. Much as I hate him, that is kinda something I would do.
Does anyone else hate the weatherman Tim Bailey as much as I do ? He's up there on my hate list, probably second after Warnie. At least nobody outside Australia knows who he is.

Nope, I can assure you. He had a portrait painted recently and the artist described him as 'attractive' and 'powerful'. Umm..no. ximena summed him up perfectly; sun-damaged and fat, with fake hair.
Angelic Fruitcake, I don't know what he's doing on Neighbours. I heard on TV that he was going to be on the show, then my ears started bleeding and I missed the rest. I don't know which weatherman Tim Bailey is, but I really don't like the one on the Today Show, who used to be on that crappy 'sitcom' with Jon English (anyone remember that? Jon English played, surprise surprise, an ageing rocker, and something about his two grown children). Actually, I don't like the one on Sunrise either; maybe obnoxiousness is a job requirement for weathermen.

Trust it to be cricket that drags me out of lurkdom. As a somewhat obsessive cricket fan I think Warnie is a bloody brilliant cricket. Off the field however, he is a complete and utter wanker. Talking of Warne this photo and article was in yesterday's Sydney Telegraph (sorry about the quality, I had to scan it because I couldn't find it online). Is it just me or do they look scarily alike? Especially the bleached hair with dark roots. All Together Now. And Rebecca Gibney was in it too. As for TV weathermen, as far as I'm concerned they are all annoying. Well, the ones on the commercial stations anyway.

Ok, I feel like I've defiled my computer by searching for this, but apparently Shane Warne will be playing himself in the show. It looks as though it's just one episode. Shane Warne on Neighbours
