I could be remembering wrong but I think the hair thing goes back to acient Greece--in the old greek plays the heros were blond, the villians brown and the redhead comic relief. I could be speaking out my arse, though, I was in school many years ago.

It is kind of weird how blonde women get a lot of attention but handsome blonde male actors never really get the attention that men with darker hair do, whether they are talented or not - Aaron Eckhart, Charlie Hunnam (fantastic on Sons of Anarchy), Julian Sands (he was hot as hell in A Room with a View), Cary Elwes (hot in Princess Bride), blanking on others. Ugly blonde actors get attention for being weird or creepy - Rutger Hauer, Christopher Walken, Nick Nolte, Dolph Lundgren (kind of ugly-hot). I consider Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig, Leonardo Di Caprio, Owen Wilson and Matthew McConna(however you spell it) to be blond and they are some of the biggest movie stars right now. I have a fetish for blond men, so I always notice them.

Kathleen Robertson. She first caught my eye during 90210, and I saw her while watching a Medium episode tonight. Reminded me that I find her quite striking and she isn't a bad actress, so I wonder why she never got 'it girl' status. She works steadily but it's always character parts. Then again, that may be a great way to work the Hollywood thing. You get the benefits of steady work and you don't have to deal with the paps. Invest wisely and you're set for life. Anyway, I like her and wish I could see her have a moment, if she wanted it.

Leslie Mann. She is beautiful and funny and looks absolutely fabulous for almost-40. We are watching The Change Up right now, and she is a sweetheart.

I agree on Leslie Mann.
Also, Sam Rockwell. He is such an amazing actor. Why is he not bigger?

Sam Rockwell is awesome. I agree he should be way bigger than he is. But I sort of wonder if he's at the level of fame he wants? I.e. he gets steady work but the tabs/paps leave him alone.

Jane Krakowski and Jack McBreyer. They are so much funnier and more likable than Tracy Morgan.

It was mentioned in the Revenge thread and I have to agree: James Purefoy. Handsome, British, good actor, what more do you want? He was so charismatic as Marc Antony in Rome.

I worked with James Purefoy briefly about a year and a half ago. He's very talented and serious-minded about what he does (and devotes some of his free time to mentoring drama students, which is admirable), but he spend a lot of time bitching about other actors, how awful and cold the industry is, and about his unjustified lack of career success. Which is silly since by most actor's standards he has a great career, but he just comes across as incredibly bitter that he's not Colin Firth. I can see how that kind of attitude could be off-putting to people, and I think if you go out into the world with a negative and bitter mindset, you will not get anything good back. It's a shame, really.

Rockwell is amazing. He should have been Oscar nom'd for Moon, and I will never ever stop yammering about that! But yes, I wonder if that "desired level of fame" is a fact for some actors. For example, I think Viggo Mortensen could have decided to become a blockbuster star after LOTR, but I don't think he wants that.
