I remember my local Walgreens putting Jessica Simpson's Dessert line on super-duper clearance some time ago. I suspect the line has been discontinued, since the website no longer works, and Sephora has even put it on clearance.

And whatever happened to the lawsuit that Jessica Simpson's jean manufacturers filed against her for not wearing the jeans publicly and mentioning another brand when asked about her favorites?

I hate to say this but I think that the celebrities who market their names like this are smart, unless it leads to overexposure and destroys their brand. Hollywood is a fickle place and most actors, singers, etc. aren't gonna have the careers of Meryl Streep and Paul McCartney.

What irritates me though is that the press fawns upon them as if they went to school, thought up designs and made an abstract concept materialize through their own hard work. Their names are all they have and it again, irritates me that they are put on the same level as Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, two people who although are dropouts, took more risks than any of them put together.

As for the careers of Meryl Streep, Meryl Streep has her career because Meryl puts a sincere effort into her roles and actually took time to go to school and develop her talent. She didn't star in a corny horror flick, nor did she have any movie specifically made to advertise her supposed greatness like Beyonce.
