I know this is a few weeks late but I LOVE the book "Wait til Helen Comes". Every time I got to a used book fair I look for it. Its one of those books that stays in the back of your head for years until you read it again and then repeat the cycle!

I am trying to remember the author of a series of books I read in the past. It is a male author. The lead character is woman. Twinge of mystery sci fi time travel private investigator. Diva something I think it part of the lead characters name. In one of the books she gets married but something happens and the husband is taken or mind wiped or something. Ring any bells? I know once I hear the author's name I will remember.

This one was a hugely popular thriller a few years back--low-level employee at a big corporation is hired to spy on another company, then promptly gets in way over his head. Purple/blue cover, published in '02/'03 I think.

I'm looking for a series. It's something like Incredibly Strange History or True Facts or something slightly sensational. The series had at least 10 books, and were available in 2003 and later. The thing is, they were graphic novels in the style of Ripley's Believe It Or Not, and dealt with hidden or sensational history, like brothels in early Chicago. I remember one story about Nick Leeson and Barings Bank, but I googled and looked in a couple databases, and nothing. Grr! If it helps visualize, at Borders (where I worked when I first encountered them) they were shelved with graphic novels in the science fiction section, and were oversized paperbacks, like the Re/Search books. ETA: Smilla, was it Paranoia by Joseph Finder?

Paranoia it is, thanks! (Sorry I don't have any ideas about your books.)

If anyone can find this book for me, it's you guys. I think I randomly picked this book up at a discount store about 10 years ago so it might be a lost cause.
ok, what I remember is there is a girl, Emma and her mom passed away from a car accident and tells her that she was adopted. then someone comes in and ransacks her moms house. Emma was also into photography. she meets up with Sam, I guy that graduated a year before her. they end up going to Ireland and she finds out that her birth moms name is maeve and she loved a guy that ended up being a priest. She was supposed to meet him to go to America but she gave birth so she missed the meeting. her parents sold her twins and Maeve found her son, but not her daughter. There was some kind of mystery about an owl piece of jewelery. Oh! and she also finds out her given name is Emerald.

On behalf of my friend's brother: a children's book where a girl goes to live with elderly relatives; she begins playing in the attic where there are dolls that seem alive; an elderly aunt dies and a new doll appears; the wallpaper in the attic has a scent--does this ring a bell with anybody?
