The problem with Vogue is that they are completely indisriminate. Sienna Miller, on the cover! It's turning into Vanity Fair. The starlet of the week on the cover. I miss the old Vogue, that are beautiful covers every month, and good content in the inside. But it has been on the decline for ages now, I guess all of the publishing world is, except for those trashy celeb weeklys.

I haven't had anything to say about Vogue these past few months because I haven't read it.
Harper's Bazaar is now my mag of Fashion. Because it is about Fashion, all about Fashion! No pretentious relevance to anything beyond the ken of fashion. It aspires only to the draping of cloth against the baby fine skin and jutting bones of 15 year old high school dropouts with huge knotted kneecaps.
Oh, well, they do have these pages of fashion tips for women 50+, 60+, and 70+ where I can look at Candance Bergen's and Jacqueline Bisset's knobby knees and waist spread, too.
Oh, it is good stuff! Some one (model or actress) might be one smokey halitosis puff away from being a blow up sex doll; but no one cares! It's all about Fashion! Not about actual women! And it doesn't pretend to be about Real Life Women!
It has freed me. I am like a leopard skin Gucci bag, now, Free! to roam the African Veldt once again on my brass knob feet!

I love the pleated dresses from Calvin Klein and Bottega Veneta and the Hermes off-white dress in The Leading Lady feature but I had to lie down after checking the prices on those babies. Eek! But they are so gorgeous.

No Vogue talk anymore? I just purchased the Age Issue today, the one with Miss Linda on the cover. She's rocking that slicked back bob that Vogue seems to prefer, previously rocked by Keira Knightley, originally rocked by that guy from Criminal Minds. Apparently I should adorn my 21-year-old self with granny skirts. I'm 5'2" so to hell with that.

This is the first issue in a while that I'm enjoying. I like reading how the supermodels (& Ellen Barkin & Yoko Ono) are navigating aging. I could do without the profile of the Olsen Twins as "Billion Dollar Babies." And I got the issue for free by "borrowing" it from my eye doctor's office.

I may have to pick it up - sounds interesting! And I love reading stuff by Yoko.
Of course, my favorite Vogue issues are the fall fashion issues, all 1,000 pages of 'em! If I never buy any other issue of Vogue that year (my mag of choice is Elle), I have to have the fall fashion super duper issue!

Yes, she is on the cover, and I'm disappointed. I was hoping for a model, not a celebrity, wearing something lovely from the f/w season. Boo!

I have had a subscription forever it seems and used to devour the magazine the day it arrived. I can honestly say now that I have the last 12 or so issues just sitting around collecting dust. This is the last year I will subscribe.

Vogue annoys me when I read it (though I will buy this issue because 1. it's the FALL FASHION SPECTACULAR and 2. I heart, heart, heart Marie Antoinette, and yeah.)...I feel like they're in on some joke that I don't get. I know it's pretentious and that's part of the fun, but I never felt like Elle was above me...I let that subscription run out (Elle) and now just get Glamour, Fitness, Lucky and Rolling Stone. I wish I loved Vogue.

Not that I'm overly excited about The Dunst ( of course, not that I have anything against her, either), but I just can't stop doing a happy dance at the mere glimpse of the Fall Fashion issue cover! And the August issue rocked - loved it so much I renewed my subscription after lo these many years!
