I hate MySpace. The few times I've checked out sites on there I was puzzled, because all the profiles look ugly from a design perspective, and as far as utility goes the layout is all over the place. What should be fairly simple looks needless cluttered, and it's confusing to try and read, for example, old entries in a blog. The site just looks like shit, I can't understand why it's so popular.

I'm biased because I use it, but why not have something like LiveJournal become a phenomenon? At least you can easily read and navigate the majority of LJ blogs without needing a pair of sunglasses and a bottle of Ritalin.

My issue finally showed up yesterday and all I can say is why? Starting with the cover, most of the pictures are just bad. Tom Ford is this big fashion guy with (supposed) impeccable taste yet the entire photo layout has no theme, no flow, its just random and looks like crap.

What's with the picture of the surgeon playing golf and the huge breast. Is that art? Angelina Jolie looks like a dead body floating in a bathtub.

My good friend could be Taye Diggs' twin. He's single girls.

A friend of mine on another site suggested a cover featuring tasteful nudes of Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, with a clothed Judi Dench nibbling on Heath's ear. I loved the idea. Hell, I'd get a giant poster made of that cover.

Tom Ford is a moron, who seems to think that he is god's gift to sexy. I have never liked his porn esthetic, think he is totally over-rated, and resent having some guy (who is not even into women) tell me what is sexy.

I got my VF yesterday and was suprised at the "artistic" nudity from Joy Bryant and Sienna Miller. It looked a bit desperate and sexist. I read that Eric Bana requested the robe (damn!), and even Taye Diggs was relatively well-covered (damn, again!).

Then there's Reese in the little-girlish dress with a doll while Dakota Fanning was in a tiny grown up evening gown.

I love Pam Anderson, but what was she doing there? It's weird how she's gone from bimbo to cultural icon. There were a few people that I was wondering why they were there.

I *still* haven't gotten my Vanity Fair, but I already know everything about it because the pics and stuff are everywhere. Screw you VF, I'm always the last one to get the issue.

Oh, and there's a really awesome "screw Tom Ford and his use of women as props" article over on Salon.com (from a few days back)-- you have to watch a two-sec ad to look at the site, but it's worth it.

I haven't gotten mine either, Hamatron. It's always just about the last one on earth to be delivered--I always figured it was because I live in West Virginia.

I just moved back to NYC after six months in Northern CA. My last issue in CA was the Lindsay Lohan cover issue, and I think my new one should arrive okay. The LL issue was pretty close to the time I moved back - I got it right before I left for NYC, so that should leave plenty of time for the new one to show up here.

I'm 40 miles outside St. Louis, and I haven't seen mine, either. I finally got snitty last month and e-mailed to find out why subscribers get their magazines a month after the @#$* issue goes on the newsstand, and all I got was a snotty e-mail informing me that if my issue hadn't arrived yet, I was SOL because they were all out (presumably that annoying little tart Lindsay Lohan sells a lot of magazines). Fuckers.

The magazine had time to change their April cover from Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crow to Natalie Portman

Crow and Armstrong were scheduled to appear together on the general interest monthly for April, to coincide with their now-canceled wedding, a Vanity Fair spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday. However, that was before the Feb. 3 announcement of their split, which came within weeks of the April issue's ship date.

Unlike other recent ill-timed Crow covers — in the respective February and March issues of Allure and Redbook, the singer talked about her relationship with Armstrong, and in Allure, she even wore a wedding dress — Vanity Fair had sufficient time to swap covers and slot in another profile.

The April issue now will feature Natalie Portman, Vanity Fair's spokeswoman said. Portman was shot for the March Hollywood issue by Mert Alas and Marcus Pigott, but only one image of the actress was used in the portfolio. Editors were therefore able to mine the B roll and build out an April cover and feature.

I wish American magazines would start putting models back on their covers again.
