A Series Of Unfortunate Events

My ten year old daughter loves these books. It's one of the few series I haven't gotten around to reading.

I do have to say that I wasn't that intrigued or inspired to read them based on the movie, but I might try to sit down one night and read them.

I always had the impression that the Series was trying to cash in on the Harry Potter phenomenon and the whole "Harry Potter has inspired kids to start reading again" thing.

Hey, whatever inspires kids to actually read is great! I've tried like hell to get my kids to love Beverly Cleary, Paula Danziger, Judy Blume, the woman who wrote the Dollhouse Murders and countless others,the Trixie Belden books, Stephen King, etc., and they just don't seem to get into books the way I did at their ages.

As an adult reading the Lemony Snicket books it seems like it would fall a little flat, but imagining my own self at ten reading the books? GOLD.
