I finally got the Sims 2 and have been playing it pretty much non-stop. I have an important Sim-related question. Do Sims change their career aspirations? The Sim I created (a replica of myself basically, except thinner and prettier lol) wanted a career in the medicine track but now wants to go into a life of crime . Is this normal? Did you achieve the Top of Medicine career want? Once you do that sims change their aspiration to something new for you to work for.

You just have to become best friends with them and they will bite you eventually if that's what you are looking for. My sims make quick friends with the vamps and they go hella bite crazy. Maybe I'm cursed, but it still hasn't happened. Tonight I met yet another Countess - I'll see how that goes! Is it possible it's connected to moving? Because I've noticed career aspiration changes after moving Sims into a new house. Weird.

Bornslippy, my Sim isn't at the top of the medical field yet - I think she's a field researcher or something like that (she was a specialist before she got promoted). The top of the medical field is Chief of Staff so I'm pretty sure my Sim is nowhere near that.
Casino Bride, my Sim hasn't moved either. I haven't even done any major renovations on her house except build her a nicer porch and get some new tiles.
Ah well. She's staying put on the medical track. No way is she going to be a criminal!

Hey, I'm trying to figure out if my computer can handle the Sims 2, but in the meantime I'm plotting what sort of neighborhood I hypothetically want. What does the new Sims 2 neighborhood look like? How many houses can you have and such? Because I know by the end of the first Sims game the neighborhood was huge, you had like 20 different family lots plus the community lots.

Sunbaby[/nb], Did your sims drink the Renuyu (or whatever its called) formula? That will also change their aspirations. I remember someone suggested to me to do that when all my sims wanted to reach the top of the Medical Field.
Casino Bride: I usually just introduce myself to one so my sims have them in their phone book, and when they get lonely late at night I have them call to chat or hang out since the vamps are the only ones who will answer the phone. That usually builds the relationship up quickly. Good luck!

Bornslippy, she didn't drink that formula either. My Sim is kind of boring that way. The only major thing I can think of is that she's got 2 boyfriends and Mortimer Goth got jealous when he saw her on a date woth one of them (Morty's not a boyfriend though). The career aspiration changed around this time.

What I do whenever I want a VampSim is to invite him or her over and have another person there. The second Sim uses the influence option that says "bite" or something like that, and then they will attack whomever you choose.
Good luck!

The base game comes with three different neighborhoods: Pleasantview (based on the neighborhood from Sims 1, as far as families are concerned), Strangetown (aliens and Area 51-ish), and Veronaville (Tudor houses and Shakespearean). You can, of course, build your own neighborhood with in-game templates or download new templates from places like Mod the Sims 2. I think each of the neighborhoods that come with the game have 7 or 8 families already in lots, and a few community lots pre-placed. But since the game allows a bunch of different lot sizes and shapes, you can put as many lots down as you can fit on the map. Plus, if you add certain expansion packs, they allow you to add neighborhoods onto your base neighborhood (so, if you decide to play Pleasantview, and buy the Nightlife expansion, you can add a Downtown neighborhood to your base neighborhood). For reference, this is what Pleasantview looks like (except for that house by the water that I built). And this is what Strangetown looks like. I don't have a picture of Veronaville because I never play it. This is my custom neighborhood, just zoomed in some.

Wait, with the career thing- are you talking about the 4 "wants" that a SIM can have? Unless you lock those wants, they change every time a Sim wakes up, or if you complete a want, they start shuffling again. There's also the aspiration thingies-- which can be, but aren't always career-driven. Once you achieve those, you will have platinum aspiration forever. The aspiration thing only changes after you complete that aspiration.

Hamatron, are you referring to the question I asked? My Sim's actual career aspiration changed, as opposed to the wants, which of course are always changing. Anyway, I got my Sim to achieve the highest medical career; I made her quit and now she's a criminal. Lemuralley, how did you build the house by the water? I hovered my mouse over the area but I couldn't build on it.
