Okay, someone had to do it and it was going to be me. Why? Well, no idea, I hate current comic books but the thread at the old boards was kinda cool.
Bring forth the four-color madness!

Goddamnit, Marvel, will you stop killing Northstar? God, when they want to stick it to gay comic book readers, they really do it.

So is their policy still 'bring them back a year later' or 'bring them back two years later so we don't look like we can't commit to any storyline at all?'

I haven't read comics of any kind in a while.
Does anyone know what happened to Cerebus? Or am I sounding too comic-snobby?

I was going to get into Cerebus but never scraped together the scratch to do it. I did get the Second Trade recommended to me before the First one but that was it. Feel free to correct me on that.

Second trade, first trade...I borrowed my copies from a buddy.
Truth be told, after #186, I thought Sim was getting a little too pretentious. Like he was some kind of artist that was outside the real world...Alan Moore sort of territory.
The problem with that line of thinking is that when Alan Moore brought the goods, he REALLY brought the goods. Dave Sim had a number of moments over 30 years, but not a single thing that compares to the ending of The Watchmen (from what I've read, anyway). And even Alan Moore is drifting from being a genius these days (too busy practicing whatever art/drugs he's engrossed himself in) to care about his books.
I just wanted to know about issue #300. If it was any good, or at least as amusing as Sim always said it would be.
I'd ask about my all-time favorite (Transmetropolitan), but since I've read #60, there's really no point in asking about the 30 in the middle I've missed.

Wait, what? What's happening to Northstar now? He got killed by Wolverine, and then... brough back to life, right? Is he being killed again? In other news, check out this hilarious site. Then spend the rest of the day wondering what kind of crack the Silver Age writers were on.

So is their policy still 'bring them back a year later' or 'bring them back two years later so we don't look like we can't commit to any storyline at all?' Ain't that the truth. I'm a decade removed from my fanboyishness, the speculation era, Image and college (discovered women and beer) put a stop to that. I've got to know some people with Marvel now and just end up getting comics through osmosis. I haven't a clue how things have changed. For instance one of my favorite second stringers Polaris is no longer with Havok and back to being Magneto's daughter. I do like the Ultimates line because I know the old story lines and don't have a ton of catching up to do. Seems like Marvel had hit the point DC did at the tail end of the Silver age where they had to do something new. I'm really impressed with the Squadron Supreme reboot. Gruenwald's mini-series was brilliant for the day and a precursor to the Dark Age. Anyone else still leary of the X-Men and related titles? As much as a bitch he is Byrne really was the driving force behind that series. When Claremont was in control in the mid-80's X-Men the story line became such a dirge (the lowpoint being Lifedeath: a Love Story)
