Yes, the "Yay, we're not really related after all, now we can date!" relationships are way worse to me than the biological relatives hooking up. Chris and Cathy were severely psychologically damaged and Heaven and Troy had no idea of their shared history. And at least those relationships were shown in a darker, more tragic light. Jimmy/Dawn and Annie/Luke were so syrupy and happy. The author treated them like they were a cute story about falling in love with the kid who grew up next door to you or something. But no, if you thought a girl was your sister or cousin for your entire childhood or adolescence? Falling in love with her is not adorable or sweet. This isn't Dawson and Joey, here.

Creepy Annie, creeped me out a bit too much. I had to stop at Fallen Hearts. I just can't keep going. I've read bad books, boring books, but I just can't finish this book a 2nd time. Going through my old books, I have all of V.C. Andrews books up until the last in the Casteel series. Most still look "brand new" I just can't keep reading them.
On a positive note, someone uploaded PDF's of almost all V.C. Andrews books. I've never completed the Hudson series. Although, I do own the first book....I was shocked, and intrigued that the Ghostwriter actually made a book with a non-white main character. It's a bit of a shock because almost all of the black characters in the Casteel series spoke like slaves in what appeared to be the 1960's. I know things weren't like they are today, but Master....really?

They did studies of kids raised in communal living situations- kibbutzes and such- and the kids tended to marry out because they saw the other children as siblings. I can't imagine going from "he's my brother" to "he's no biological relation- let's shack up!" without missing a beat.

So after Flowers in the Attic and Petals on the Wind, the Forever YA site has done a recap of My Sweet Audrina. This one seems much more fed-up/angry than the others, which were just flat-out funny snark, but there are still some choice quotes. The part about Milk Carton Vaginas is epic, but it does sound like reading so much Andrews has pushed the recapper over the edge.

"Lewd and licentious smile". I have never heard that before in my life in any other context.

And I think if I'd tried reading that book on a plane where I couldn't hurl it against the wall every three seconds, I'd have sounded just as bonkers by the end.

Reading Web of Dreams that to read and enjoy her books, you have to throw logic, common sense, and maturity out of the window. Instead of running away, why didn't she go live with her Dad? She's also a bit, as we say fast. Hot in the pants. She's hanging with high schoolers, and of course has the same obsession with her breast as other Andrews characters. How ANYONE could marry Jillian is beyond my understanding. She's horrendous.
Almost to the Cutler series. I can't wait to see if Dawn is as dumb as everyone says.

Didn't Cleave VanVoreen die at some point in the book?
I can't even remember. I do know he and Jillian divorced but for some reason I thought he later died. If he wasn't dead then yeah, why wouldn't Leigh try to go live with him? He seemed to be the only sane character in all of the books.
