I looked at the plot- it makes no sense. Are they trying to say the girl is half Caucasian/half African American, or is she Caucasian raised by an African American family? Anyway, passing in reverse is a different plot twist, but if the girl is Caucasian, wouldn't someone notice?

Yeah, that's the problem with the Post-VC VC Andrews books. Cathy and Early Heaven at least had a couple brain cells to rub together, or it was clear that their bad choices were the results of the bad stuff that happened to them. Later Heaven, Annie, Dawn, Ruby, Gabriel/le were just... pork stupid.
How timely.
Really, is ANYONE clammoring for a VC Miniseries?

Some of the characters weren't too stupid-Melody, Laura, Christie, etc. Lillian was pretty kickass.
But Gabrielle was just the WORST. C'mon, Pierre really did love her...blah blah blah. I was hoping that from the descriptions grandmere gave, Gabrielle was just a fun-loving gal who liked having sex, and having boyfriends, and just ended up in a situation too complicated for her.
Noooooo, she was this meek, mousy passive little thing. Ugh.

Maybe they're looking to cast Michael Jackson in the starring role?

If they are gonna make a miniseries out of one of V.C Andrews books, why didn't they at least do My Sweet Audrina. That one might have been a good one. If they did it right. And you know they are gonna screw up the Rain series. By making her an all white girl living in black family. Which would be really stupid, and mess up the whole story in the first place.

Rain was the daughter of a white woman who had an affair with an African American man, but she was brought up by an African American family. The website mentions the "white socialite" mother, but doesn't say anything about her father. I would assume that he would still be African American, because if not, the story doesn't make any sense.
Rain is still a poor choice to make. If they did a miniseries for Flowers in the Attic, I would be all over it! The movie version of it was awful.

Thanks, pariswhitney. I was rather confused as to just what the plot was about.
According to the synopsis:
Win the heart? Uh, guys? Could you have phrased that any WORSE? Heart and affection is redundant, but when we talk about winning someone's heart, it's frequently got sexual connotations. Then again, this is V.C. Andrews we're talking about.
