I like "Flames", although it's not as family centered as his other books. The only part I didn't like was his Princeton (I think) speech, but then, the only one of his books I haven't really liked was his first one that had fiction stories. To me his fiction isn't funny, just weird and unimaginable.

I am so excited, I am going to see David tonight at a reading. I have had the tickets for 8 months!
Anyone else been to one of his shows?

Yes, I saw him when he came to NH, maybe a year and a half ago? Very funny and he spent a lot of time at the meet & greet afterwards. Super nice and he took time to chat with everyone for a few minutes. If you have the opportunity to attend the meet & greet, I strongly suggest it!

It was great - combination of stuff from the book and new stuff. He was also very accessible - I saw him in the lobby before the show, and of course he had the Meet & Greet afterwards.

I went a few years ago. He was hilarious and I echo the recommendation to stay for the meet and greet. Bring a book for him to sign!

I am so excited, I am going to see David tonight at a reading. I have had the tickets for 8 months! Anyone else been to one of his shows? Yes! I saw him in NC MANY years ago. He was hilarious (he did his imitation of Billie Holiday singing "My Baloney"). He was also very cool and laid back after the reading. He talked casually to people - smoking a cigarette the entire time. I'm such a freak I was nervous about talking to him and getting my book signed so I made my boyfriend do it. LOL. (Evidence that this was a LONG time ago? The book was "Me Talk Pretty One Day"). He chatted with my boyfriend about how his brother, "The Rooster" was getting married, they shared some discussion about Greek families, etc. So yeah, he was very cool. OH! And Amy was there selling baked goods!! LOL!! Weird story: Several months later I got a birthday present in the mail from a former work friend: It was yet another copy of "Me Talk Pretty One Day" autographed TO ME by David Sedaris. So I've got two personally autographed copies. I think that's kind of cool.

I saw him a few years ago - I bought the tickets in a pre-sale and only managed to squeak in at the very back row! It was awesome, though - and he stayed until every single person got their stuff autographed (hours and hours). He was friendly and personable to each person and didn't rush. He drew little personalized doodles in our books and was as charming as you'd want him to be.

I should have posted this a couple of days before I went. I had no idea he would be there before the show. We arrived 10 minutes before he started. Afterwards, the line for book signing was so long and I needed to get home, so I didn't do that either.
I don't know how I did it, but my tickets were front row, dead centre right in front of him. It was fabulous. He read from his diary, which was hysterical. I loved his work before but now I am so enamoured of him, I feel like a Bieber fan girl!
