Yay! Cell in paperback. I don't care how crappy it is, as far as I'm concerned it's not summer unless I can lounge in water and read a King paperback. And as I don't give a rat's ass about the Dark Tower series I've gotten tired or rereading the short story collections. (BTW, is anyone else insanely excited to see the TNT miniseries Nightmares and Dreamscapes? My favorite King story collection, hells yeah...)

(BTW, is anyone else insanely excited to see the TNT miniseries Nightmares and Dreamscapes? My favorite King story collection, hells yeah...) Oh, dear God, are you kidding me? I'm so excited I keep surfing around trying to find the exact date and time! And normally, I always enter into movie versions of his books with alot of trepidition ( some I've loved, some I've hated, but that's for another post). I'm very touchy about the casting - mostly because I tend to cast his books in my head as I read them. And there are two bits of casting here that have me just chomping at the bit to see - 1. Ron Livingston and Henry Thomas in The End of the Whole Mess. I mean - it's Ron Livingston! And Henry Thomas sure as hell deserves more screentime than he got after being bumped off in the first few minutes of Desperation. 2. Kim Delaney and Steven Weber in You Know They've Got a Hell of a Band - my favorite King short story, great casting with both of them, and I'm so ridiculously excited over this one I can hardly wait! ETA: July 12 at 9 PM on TNT! SQUEEEEE! I think it's in three parts, running for three weeks - not sure yet. Go to the TNT website (www.tnt.tv), they have a photo gallery up, cast listing the works! Richard Thomas in Autopsy Room Four!! ( *Dies from happiness*) And even though it's not in this particular book, they've brought in Battleground with William Hurt! I can't wait to see the special effects for that - I hope they really do it well!

Oh wow. The TNT series sounds fab! I have to give a shoutout to "From A Buick 8" if you're talking recentish King. Creepy, icky, and with just enough sci-fi to please me. It's a great book to read in the heat of summer with an electrical storm raging outside.

I haven't read anything new of his since Dreamcatcher. I started the book and then... just put it down and never went back. That never happened to me with any of his other books or short stories, so I was sorely disappointed. I've read everything of his prior to Dreamcatcher numerous times. Pet Sematary is one of my faves for outright creepiness, and it was one of the best movies, IMO. I have many favorite Stephen King stories, but one of my absolute favorites is The Mist. The fear and desperation he conveyed, as well as the innate heroism of everyday ordinary people just gets to me every time I read it. The end, where they just keep driving, not knowing whether they will ever find a place free of the mist, scares the crap out of me. Hmmm.... time to dig out It and Needful Things.

"Dolan's Cadillac" is my favorite King short story. That is just a perfect piece of art. (There's nothing supernatural in it, either). I can vividly recall all the details from that story (especially while driving on the highway at night or passing a construction zone) it was so heartbreaking/creepy.

Dolan's Cadillac is the only change I would make to that line-up in Nightmares and Dreamscapes. William H. Macy is going to be in Umney's Last Case, but in my opinion - he'd be perfect for Dolan's Cadillac. The part that makes every hair on my arm stand up is when he's recalling Harvey Blocker telling him that he's never going to be strong. That he'll die out there in the desert sun, so why pull this crap on his system?
And he never answers him verbally, but in his mind he answers himself: "She was in pieces. I loved her, and she was in pieces." I get a chill up my spine every time! That would have been an awesome one to bring to the screen!

See, it's been ages and ages since I've read N&D. I'm going to have to pull it out after I finish Cell. (Which, by the way, doesn't royally suck, but isn't one of his better ones. At least not to the point where I am. It's been predictable so far).

Oh, wow. July 12th? I have a couple books going right now (just finished re-reading The Shining.....I had really forgotten the creepiness of it), but I'll have to finish them up quick! *runs off to find old copy of Nightmares and Dreamscapes*

Does anybody enjoy King's editorials in Entertainment Weekly? I don't. They annoy me, and I'm not quite sure why. It's not like he hasn't got the right to comment on pop culture any more than any other write. There's just something that makes me roll my eyes.

I thought I had read it once before, but none of the stories are familiar to me........
