I felt the same way. I think I just liked that the Wonder Spot had some great stories that seemed so realistic. The one that really sticks out is the time the narrator went to the beach with her friend and they realized that they'd completely grown apart. Very true and very honest.
I've been hearing that "Girls Guide . . ." is being made into a movie for years. IMDB has it as a Sarah Michelle Geller movie (gag). I guess I need to re-read it but I remember that the book wasn't very linear so I think it's going to have to go through a lot of change to become a decent movie. We'll see, I guess.

I just finished The Nanny Diaries.
What a disappointing way to end the book. Boo.

I liked Girls Guide, really enjoyed Wonder Spot and loved Anybody Out There. Then again, I loves me some Marian.

I'm in the middle of Jane Austen in Scarsdale, and it's pretty good so far. A little different from most chick lit, and it's funny, too.
I recently read The Bachelorette Party which I do not recommend. I mean, a high school teacher lusting after and sleeping with a student, even if he is over eighteen is just yuck, imo.

I just picked up Goodnight, Nobody by Jennifer Weiner, but haven't read it yet. Just curious to see if anyone else has, and if so, what you thought of it?

I read Goodnight, Nobody. It was eh. I finished it in about a week but that doesn't mean it was very good. If that makes sense. Honestly I thought it was her weakest book. The mystery seemed awkward at times and there was some crazy relationship stuff and the ending was not very good.

Jennifer Weiner's books are starting to run together. The protagonist in all of her novels is a varation of Cannie, her author self-insert from Good in Bed. In Her Shoes? Cannie is a lawyer with an even more dysfunctional family. Little Earthquakes? A happier Cannie in Mommy & Me class, with skinny, miserable friends. Goodnight, Nobody is just Cannie the desperate housewife playing "Murder, She Wrote". I know writers are supposed to stick with what they know, but it never hurts to branch out a little every now and then.

I hate the name "Cannie," too. It was so thoroughly distracting.

I just finished The Nanny Diaries. What a disappointing way to end the book. Boo. Totally. It didn't even seem particularly realistic or likely that that's how Nan would react and what she'd do. Hell, it just plain didn't seem like much at all. I still might see the movie, though.
