Is SM one of those authors, like VC Andrews, who doesn't really seem to understand how sex works...?

Well, CLEARLY there can't be sex in the same book as a baby getting cut out of the mom's uterus by her father's teeth. What kind of person do you think SMeyer is?! (Edited for the GD smiley faces.)

At least in V.C. Andrews (the ones actually WRITTEN by her), you had people screwing on top of graves, incest, etc.
(I still can't wait to read the C-section by teeth part. If only because that sounds like the only morid Vampire-y part in the whole damned series. I have issues, don't I?)

How does Edward manage to get accepted into Ivy League schools? As far as I know, he appears to do next to nothing outside of school. No extracurricular activities, no volunteering. He plays the piano, but he's probably not participating in recitals or winning competitions. The only thing the guy has going for him are perfect grades and (I assume) standardized test scores. Kids with perfect grades and test scores are a dime a dozen at prestigious colleges. Someone with nothing else going on isn't going to get accepted at Harvard or Dartmouth. I suppose he could bribe the admissions people the way he bribed Dartmouth to accept Bella, but considering how long he's been 'alive' and how many schools he's attended during that lifetime, I find it hard to believe that he'd care so much about being admitted for the billionth time, that he'd stoop to bribery. Unless he's that pathetic. Wait...did I just answer my own question? Yeah, I know it's sad that I pay attention to this sort of stuff. It's not even a huge part of the story. I just love to hate every part of the series. Sue me.

"Well, his father is Carlisle Cullen, and his great uncle was Edward Cullen and his great aunt was Alice Cullen, so he gets the automatic enrollment ticket?"

I can't remember if any of the family has "Jedi-Mind-Trick" powers. *waves hand* "You will accept my college application."

I thought vampires could "dazzle" people, or something? Or, am I just thinking about True Blood (which is much, MUCH better than Twilight, IMO)?

In Twilight, Jasper has the ability to "calm" people or some shit. I can't remember if it can change other feelings as well. Maybe he could charm people into accepting them. I don't know. I don't care. Quit making me make excuses for you, SMeyer!
