I thought vampires could "dazzle" people, or something? Or, am I just thinking about True Blood (which is much, MUCH better than Twilight, IMO)? They (and I include Bella in this, even in her pre-vamp state) thought they could dazzle people, and they twinkle in the sun, but I'm not sure it would really work on an Ivy League admissions officer.

Maybe that's how Jasper got people into his army, or created vampires. "You will let me kill you, and drink your blood." *waves hand*
Okay, I just watched the "Vampire Baseball" scene on YouTube. First, Carlisle looks like he's sixteen. Second, I watched the "When You're a Jet" scene from West Side Story first...and they're almost identical. Third, this movie is BEGGING to be made into a musical.

You know, "New Moon" is slightly more tolerable, if only because Edward's gone, and we don't have to endure paragraph after paragraph of slobbering over his "cold, marble perfection". Personally, Jacob seems somewhat cooler. Not as whiny, or hell --- HE'S NOT A STALKER!!! (Or does he turn into one?)
Of course, knowing the ending, he does become a pedo, sort of.

Not really a stalker, but in the third book, Meyer completely assassinates his character by having him forcibly kiss Bella. Helloooo, sexual assault! (ETA: figured I'd spoiler that because I don't know how far you've gotten into the series) So at that point for me, Edward vs. Jacob becomes much more of a "pick your poison" scenario. Would you rather have Edward the Stalker or Jacob the Molester? Also, for all the grief we give Stephenie about using the word "chagrin" a billion times per chapter, I notice that she also loves using the word "acid" to describe how someone speaks, e.g. "The acid in my voice was for both of them" (from Eclipse).

Ugh! Meyers has some serious issues. (I probably would have been crushing on Mike from the first day. Good looking AND helps me at gym, where I too, suck? Damn! Although in my high school, I was in the class for people who sucked at gym.)
I'm in "New Moon", but I don't care about being spoiled. I just want to read these books as fast as I can.

Oh, so you haven't yet gotten to the wonderful part where Edward disables Bella's car engine! Boy, are you in for a treat. And there's also the section where Jacob manipulates Bella into kissing him again (after his initial assault) by threatening to get himself killed if she doesn't. Good times.

He doesn't do it because he's a creepy, controlling stalker. No, not at all. It's only because he loves her so, so much. The Bella/Edward relationship is totally a model of perfection for teenage girls to follow. YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT REAL LOVE IS!!1![/fangirl ranting]

I never got that worked up over the forced kiss. In comparison with everything else that happens in these books, it was small potatoes for me. But the way Jacob manipulates Bella all, "Well if you don't love me, I guess I just won't even try to live through this battle...unless you maybe want to give me a reason to live right now?" So much HATE. Jacob totally trumps Edward in assiness for me. At least Bella invites Edward's creepy, controlling behavior. She certainly doesn't want it from Jacob.

Quite frankly, they ALL deserve each other. They're all a bunch of morons. It's not like Bella doesn't stalk Jacob as well, following him around like a puppy, he stalks her in return, etc. Maybe they could have a vampire/human/werewolf threesome.
God, I cannot wait until I'm finished with these stupid books!!!
