I actually love The Mediator series the best which ironically - and also bizarrley; i mean they're the same genre as her other popular books so wouldn't she want to capitalise on her name?? - is published under the name of Jenny Carrol. Also her adult book Boy Meets Girl was great.

One thing is niggling me; I just finsihed reading Avalon High - on the final page, what is the cryptic one other service that Elaine suddenly remembers the lady of the lake performs for arthur before she brings him home?

I thought the service was that she brought him home to Avalon, like how Ellie was providing a home for Will. I haven't checked that book in awhile though.

I don't actually much like the Mediator series, though I love all her other stuff. I find Suze unbearably stupid. A lot of other people including my sister do seem to like it best out of all her books though. I really liked Queen of Babble, one of her newer adult books. I did not really like the last Princess Diary book. Mia totally lost her mind in that book and I could not stop cringing. Loved all the other Princess diaries books though so I hope she rebounds with the next instalment.

I read the first few Princess Diary books when I was younger, and I must admit I swooned over Michael Moscovitz. He was so romantic with his Star Wars screening! Heh.

I've been meaning to check out some of her newer stuff but never seem to get around to it. I do like her 'trilogy' of e-mail books -- The Boy Next Door, Boy Meets Girl, and Every Boy's Got One, though I felt like the last one kinda stretched the believablity of e-mail communication while on vacation. Boy Meets Girl was suuuper cute, though.

Anyone read the Size 12 Is Not Fat books? Those seemed pretty good, but I heard they got kinda mixed reviews so far.

I agree i hated the last Princess Diaries, as i found Mia (who i in fact never particularly liked) so utterly unlikeable. The classic Mary Jane/Joey Potter character who in being such a drama queen who thinks she so nice is actually really inconsidertae and selfish.

Remind me about the email trilogy? I know i've read Every Boy's Got One, but althougg the other 2 titles seem familiar i can't recall them. Does one of them involve a trolley cart in an office building and an office nazi?

Size 12 is Not Fat is an interesting title, are they non-fiction?

I really like the e-mail books the best. The Size 12 (and then Size 14) are fiction. They center around a former pop star who works in a residence hall and solves mysteries. Totally goofy and mindless but I think they're fun. I have both. I did feel like I was reading teen fiction though when reading them. Like maybe they weren't meant for someone in her 30s . . .

I'm in the process of whittling down my book section so if anyone wants to read Size 12 or Size 14 (and keep them--I don't want them back) PM me and I'll send them to you in the mail. No cost or anything but the price is that I'll be slow as hell getting them to you

Boy Meets Girl opened with the main character Kate Mckenzie who works at a New York Newspaper, firing the lady who operated the senior staff dessert cart. She had to fire her because her boss Amy Jenkins who she calls the Tyrannical Office Despot or something like that is engaged to the Newspaper's main lawyer and Ida the dessert cart lady wouldn't give him a piece of pie. Ida sues Kate and Amy for wrongful termination, causing Kate to meet the brother of Amy's fiance who is also a lawyer during the legal proceedings and sparks fly.

Boy Next Door takes place before Boy Meets Girl and also takes place at the same New York newspaper, so there's overlap in the characters. Mel writes for the paper and her neighbour is injured, causing her to contact the neighbour's family. A man shows up to care for the neighbour's pets, claiming to be her nephew. He and Mel are attracted to each other and wacky hijinks ensue.

Love Meg Cabot! Although some of her latest stuff isn't as good as her first stuff.

The PDs have lost a lot of their original humour, with Mia just stupid and oblivious and Lily being even bitchier. I enjoyed the Mediator series more the second time I read them through (it didn't help that I read them wackily out of order due to publishing insanity here). I really like All American Girl, and just love the Missing series beyond all reason. Rob Wilkins makes my toes curl.

The adult ones are pretty good, although I agree that the Italy one was a bit meh. And I though Avalon High really sucked.

I liked Boy Meets Girl, but have to admit that none of the others have really caught on for me. It's pretty funny -- as I'm reading, part of me is going "eh, this isn't bad, it's not a BAD book..." while some other more intellectual, ambitious part of my brain is quietly going mad and begging to go do something more stimulating instead of making it die.

It's not an easy thing to do, writing that sort of froth that's still enjoyable, but I'd have to say that the well ran dry for me very, very very quickly. I barely tolerated Kate McKenzie's breathless fixation on the television show "Charmed"; I don't really deal well with seeing the same character quirks populated across the other books.

There was something that bugged me about Size 12 Is Not Fat, specifically how many times the "dorm...I mean, residence hall" thing appeared. I was starting count how many times I saw that in narration alone. It was that annoying. Also annoying? The character of Heather. She screams "pushover" to me.
