A 'ghost' story that dates from almost 20 years ago when my mother died. My sisters and I were cleaning out her bed-sit and spent the night before her funeral there. After going through her papers, we had indications that perhaps she had a boyfriend. So while we were reminiscing about her, the chat became a little - disrespectful maybe - in a light-hearted way. We were discussing whether we might be able identify this boyfriend at the funeral. Mum had a single bed and a couch that converted into a bed (where she slept) in her main living area. The mattress on the single bed was old and dipped in the middle. On the night in question, my sister had put her makeup into the dip on the bed. As we were chatting about mum's potential boyfriend, lipsticks rolled off that bed onto the floor and an empty box fell off the top of the wardrobe onto our heads. We apologised to mum and talked about other things.

ghostofgenerayburn, I wonder what it is too. I've also heard NDE stories. And ladyjane, good thing you and your sister minded your mother!
I had mentioned in my last post that I hadn't had any visits from my relatives in a while. Well, last Sunday morning, I woke up in my guest room and smelled a combination of soap and powder that I haven't smelled in many years, all around me. I didn't know what to think and assumed my downstairs neighbor was doing her laundry, which usually floated up from below. I got up and made coffee and walked around my apartment, and couldn't smell the scent anywhere but my guest room, and it was a little bit cold in there. Then I remembered my downstairs neighbor had moved out weeks before. The smell was still in the guest room and was beginning to dissipate. Finally, it hit me who it was--it was my maternal grandmother's scent, her Cameo soap and White Shoulders powder. It brought back some wonderful memories.
On another note, I live by myself, but I'm not alone. I apparently share my home with a ghost, but s/he is quiet. I've often felt a presence in my home, like someone's there, but I've learned to live with it. The only remarkable thing that's happened was when my mother was visiting, staying in the guest room, and I came in to talk to her, and shut the door on the way in. As soon as I sat down, the door swung open, with such force that it nearly hit the opposite wall. My mother and I just looked at the door, but there was nothing or no one there. Later, I spoke to the ghost, telling her/him that s/he was welcome to stay and look after me and the apartment, but do anything scary or harmful to me or my family and friends, it was going to be GONE.
Since then, nary a peep.

Someone selling a house in PA has mentioned in the Zillow listing it is "Slightly haunted." From said listing: "Nothing serious, though. e.g. The sounds of phantom footsteps. A strange knocking sound followed by a very quiet (hardly noticeable, even) scream at 3:13am, maybe once a week. Twice a week, tops. And the occasional ghastly visage lurking behind you in the bathroom mirror. Even still, this occurs very rarely and only in the second floor bathroom."

Oh gawd, I could never live there! After watching the first Paranormal Activity movie, I had to sleep with the lights on for two whole weeks!!!

I love that their conscience makes them warn the buyer, but then they're all downplaying it, "eh, no biggie, it's just the second floor bathroom." Heh.
ETA: Gorgeous house!
Also: Uh ... sounds great. *Gulp*

Uh ... sounds great. *Gulp* We had one of those in the house I grew up in. We used it to store Christmas decorations. On topic: The house I previously lived in had some strange incidences, such as my dog Payton (RIP) would often sit at the end of my bed, which faced the door, and stare into the hallway at nothing I could see. Then his back hair would stand on end and he would bark for about 30 seconds. Also, occasionally I would catch the glimpse of something/someone out of the corner of my eye, but when I turned my head to look, there was nothing there. The previous owner died from old age in that home, and we bought it from his wife when she moved to a nursing home, so I've always thought it was just his energy hanging out.

About the PA house--curiously, I pick up (almost) no negative energy from those photos. The space feels remarkably clean to me, especially for a house that old. So, IMO, the owners' warnings are a wee bit unnecessary.
Topic: Gigiree, my dog also does a 'thing' where he goes into the corner of my bedroom and stares up at something when there is nothing to stare at. It's creepy.

I know this thread hasn't been active in a long time, but I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about a certain topic. A few weeks ago my sister told me she was pregnant. For some reason I was absolutely certain that the baby would not make it to birth. As in, there was no doubt in my mind. I knew a baby would not be born as well as I knew my own name. I didn't bring this up because I had never had that type of thought before and I felt like a horrible person for thinking so. Anyways, yesterday she found out that the baby didn't make it. I feel horrible and super guilty. Is it possible to manifest such thoughts?
Secondly, there are certain things that I feel sure of, like the gender- when it was too early to know. I then read that if a child is not born it doesn't yet have a soul. I'd like to know if anyone has seen or heard anything to disprove this. For some reason it makes me feel terribly sad to think this. I feel this presence around me. I'm not scared and it could totally be my imagination. Without getting into the legal/religious side of things, does anyone have any thoughts on when a soul is formed?
