I did look at Mint but I couldn't get past the accounts page - which I'm not ready for just yet.
I am currently wearing a Batman shirt so I think that I am totally indistinguishable from my username.

So, I guess I'm finally getting my first smartphone, after several years of nagging from my parents, and I just got back from a preliminary visit to the Apple store.
Any thoughts on the 6s (32GB $449, 128GB $549) versus the SE (32GB $349, 128GB $449)? I guess it's a little easier to type on the slightly larger 6s, but I don't know if it's worth paying $100 more just for that. My dad recommended getting the 128 GB version, which makes sense, but would anyone disagree with that?
Also, the way my parents got their iPhones was to go to the Apple store, buy an iPhone that they liked, and then take it over to AT&T to activate it (we have a family plan with AT&T.) I'm like, "Really? Those things don't go on sale or anything?" (Beyond getting cheaper as they get older, of course, which is why I'm looking at the SE and 6S.)

Well, I just found out (after waiting 2 months!) that the 128gb SE I ordered at AT&T is no longer available. I got one on fleabay, but it was a tough find. My only rule is I must have a headphone jack, so a 6 would be okay, but it's too big, imo. Plus I have a box of accessories for my 5 that will fit the SE, so, that's how I decided.
On a related note, when we upped our plan to the Unlimited Plus (or whatever) at AT&T, we got a deal for DirecTV Now for the most basic package for $10 a month, in perpetuity. Like the Colonial Penn life insurance!
I cancelled it a few days later, as they didn't have CBS, which is most of the network stuff I watch, most importantly, my morning Norah O'Donnell fix! A few days after I cancelled it, they added CBS.
Yesterday, Spectrum tried to up my bill by $45. I was greeted with a screen of snow, and after a new channel scan, was left with a single channel endlessly playing a 2 minute video congratulating me on my ALL DIGITAL cable service, which now requires a box on every tv, that will be $13.95 a month for each box.
After much gnashing, I have re-upped my DirecTV Now offer, and picked up a $30 Roku at Sam's club.
For the 2nd time in my life, I get to kinda fire the cable company! Woot!
I still get the Internet (Earthlink) via Spectrum, so they still get SOMETHING, but effectively my TV bill will drop about $50 a month.
Until Net Neutrality is cancelled, then all bets are off.
ETA: This morning, I drove MissP and some classmates to a field trip. We left about 30 minutes after I dropped her at school, so I opted to stay in the parking lot, rather than go home.
As an experiment, I brought our new iPad with me (another perk of upping our AT&T contract: $99) and tried watching DirecTV Now in my car at school. It worked as advertised, and because of our package, Dtv streaming doesn't count against our data (allegedly). We'll see at the end if the month how choked our bandwidth gets.

This is a weird question and I couldn't figure out which thread to put it in: does anybody else have issues with reading comments over at Jezebel/The Slot/The Onion/The AV Club...I think it's run by Kinja. I can only read the top comment and cannot scroll further. I'm on a PC using IE whatever. At home I use Chrome. Has anybody else had this issue? I used to read stuff over there all the time but I do hate the new format and I can't read the comments, which is most of the fun. Thanks for any ideas.

I just bought an Amazon Echo on sale. I'm unclear what I'm supposed to do with it. I've seen my kids basically yell at them to get it to play songs, and use it as a modern clapper to turn the lights on or off, but... what else? 20 Questions? Shopping list? I don't quite get how to engage with The Internet Of Things (says the woman who can't engage with The Internet of People on Facebook...)

We got an Echo last Christmas and I haven't found it to be that useful. It never seems to know the answer to Wikipedia-type questions. The only thing I use it for is to set a timer when I'm cooking, and streaming the classical music station when I'm taking a bath in our bathroom that doesn't get good radio reception.

Any recommendations on a wireless printer/scanner that does NOT grind to a screeching halt when the yellow ink cartridge gets low while printing a B/W document? *glares at Epson* I've really come to hate this printer, and I have no one to blame but myself--but if ANYTHING is low (or if I'm just holding my mouth wrong), nothing happens until things get fixed, and I am sick of trying to diagnose what's wrong now, and running to the store for another expensive ink cartridge that shouldn't keep me from printing coupons.

When a color ink is low, have you tried changing the settings to black and white? That should force the printer to using the black ink. Otherwise, it will use all the colors to combine to make black.

I got an HP printer and I signed up for their ink service. Basically I pay $7/month and when I get low on ink the printer tells HP who sends me ink. I don't know if I'll end up spending more or less but considering I ruined my last printer by printing when it was too low on ink and I hate going to Staples for anything, I consider it a win. Now i just have to figure out how to expense the ink (since I use it for work too, I expense every other cartridge.)

I'm turning into a grumpy boots about cell phones. I miss being in Prague where you buy whatever phone you can afford and just buy scratch off cards to fill up minutes for usage. I only use my smart phone for Instagram, Pinterest, my period app, and Amazon.
Is there a low tech phone that can cover those apps? I'm sick of both Android and Apple but thinking of going back to Apple for the customer service element.
I'm just plain grumpy about disposable economy and shit. Harumph.
