I'm turning into a grumpy boots about cell phones. I miss being in Prague where you buy whatever phone you can afford and just buy scratch off cards to fill up minutes for usage. I only use my smart phone for Instagram, Pinterest, my period app, and Amazon. Is there a low tech phone that can cover those apps? I'm sick of both Android and Apple but thinking of going back to Apple for the customer service element. I'm just plain grumpy about disposable economy and shit. Harumph. I saw an ad last night for Tracfone--might be worth a look

I saw an ad last night for Tracfone--might be worth a look Both my older kids had Tracphones as their starters. They worked great, and the only glitch I ever had with them was when we traveled and I had some difficulty setting up roaming because there wasn't a local carrier where we were going. I'd give them a 10/10.

I give up on Google and turn to the Greecie Hive Mind. I need to import a spreadsheet/csv file to create calendar entries in my Outlook. I did it before, but it only worked when I did some hack I read about in the comments of an article. I think it was something like putting an apostrophe at the end of each date or something. Of COURSE I can't find that page now. Anyone have any experience with this and can help out?

If I want to get an email to go directly to my Primary Inbox instead of the Promotions section on Gmail, how would I do that?
I Googled how to set up a filter and then attempted it, but there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut 'send this type of message to Here instead of There every day' feature. Do I have to mark it as Starred or Important to get it into my Primary Inbox?

You need to drag one of those emails from the promotion section and drop it into the 'primary' tab at the top of the screen.

80% of my email kept going into Promotions so I just disabled the whole tabbed inbox thing in settings. There's no way in hell I'm going to keep switching back and forth between three or more tabs in my inbox.

Ok, tech people, I have a problem and need some guidance. My external hard drive, which has not only all of my school stuff on it but also a ton of photos and videos, was knocked off my desk and quit working. I haven't been diligent about backing it up, and so about a year's worth of data is on this unit and only this unit. YIKES!
I did some research and sent it to a company called Secure Data to diagnose. When the hard drive fell, it caused the read/write heads to fail. The estimate to repair and retrieve the data is $1,861.30. Can someone tell me if this is reasonable or not? If it wasn't for all of the photos and videos from the last year on it that would be lost forever, I wouldn't even consider it.
Thanks in advance for your expertise.

I have never had anything important enough to follow up on, but in the past, my searching turned up similar pricing. Data recovery is EXPENSIVE...
