The lack of a headphone jack is really annoying and stupid.

Yeah, I heard about that. I prefer to talk with my headphones, and not speakerphone.
I think I'll hold off on getting a new phone.

I received a notification on Facebook that “UMG released their claim on your video”, and I clicked on the notification. It was a video I posted about 7 months ago of my then two-year-old Lulu singing along to “Yesterday” by The Beatles. I had no idea that a claim had been made on the video, and cursory Googles sleuthing turned up conflicting and unclear info.
What’s up with this? Do I need to be concerned or delete the video? Thanks!

That's weird. Do you think it may be something to do with copyright of the song?

When you fix a song to picture (still or video) the oner has something called "sync rights", which gives them the right to deny your use.
The band ran into this when we filmed a concert for the Roanoke PBS station, and Sony denied us the right to use it (they own the Beatles songs).
If your video has the actual Beatles recording playing in it, they might get uptight.
I wouldn't worry until you get a cease and desist letter from someone. More likely whoever is hosting the video will just take it down and send you a sternly written email.

Thanks for the information. The video only contains part of the song, and even that much is difficult to hear because she was watching the video on a desktop computer, and I was behind and to the side filming, so mostly you can hear her sing about how she’s “half the man she used to be...” I’ll keep my eyes peeled for any notices, but so far I’ve not received anything via e-mail or Facebook. I’ll just let it be for now. ETA: “here” /=/ “hear” D’oh!

I had posted a video to facebook with an instrumental song looped to it, and fb just posted it without sound and sent me a message saying I didn’t have copyright to the music. It was the ba-da-an-naaa muppet song.

That would be the sync rights thing I was talking about. True fun fact: "Mah Nà, Mah Nà" is actually score music from the Italian softcore film "Sweden: Heaven and Hell", from a scene depicting half naked ski-bunnies in a sauna.

That’s hilarious and disturbing, as I used it on a video of my children’s camp! Did not know its origin in soft core. Hope the other parents are also blissfully ignorant of that too!
