Bumping from 2019! Wooo... I need help from the Greecies on life insurance for me and the Mr. Google sends me to ads that want all your info do they can have somebody call me RIGHT NOW. No. I want a policy that will pay off the house and one vehicle, plus some extra for expenses. We don't have kids. We have cats. We're both soon to be 55. Thank you in advance and happy Friday the 13TH! Are you eligible for USAA? That's where we have our term life insurance from. We bought ours in our 30's, so at 55, it's going to be more pricey. While a policy from your work can be a good deal, it's also tied to your employment so if you lose your job you lose your coverage. Our term life is about to expire, as we specifically wanted it for when the kids were kids. Washington State is about to enact a state Long Term Care (LTC) policy/tax, so we bought private policies (VERY expensive) with a death benefit that will take over for the term insurance. Our LTC policies are through Lincoln Financial which is a company our financial advisor suggested, so you may want to see if they offer a life insurance product you would want.

I just want to note that this is not always true (although I think I am perhaps just taking what you said too literally?)--when I ended my last job I had the option to continue paying for the same life insurance plan and avoid any gap/discontinuation in coverage. The monthly payment was going to be slightly more because of course my former employer wouldn't continue to cover any part of it, but not by very much, maybe $20? I'm not sure how much of that was specific to my job/how I left it/my age but maybe still worth looking into.

I've had term life for years with New York Life and I have been really happy with it.

Anyone know of any good options to consolidate credit card debt? I need to get serious about paying off my card debt.

So my bank just decided to close the only branch somewhat close to me. If I need to deposit money, I'd have to commute to the city, which is almost $7 one way. My debit card is a part of an atm network where I don't get charged, but these Atm's are not everywhere. This bank is also where my paycheck is direct deposited.
I went through a major financial situation some years back after being out of work. The reason I mention this is one of the big banks that everyone knows (Not citi, the other one, and please dont put the name in any replies if you guessed it, trying to avoid Identity theft) was a part of the major financial situation some years back and I am afraid of parking my money there for that reason, even though they have no legal basis to do anything to me. They have a branch near me.
The only other major banks near me are TD bank and Citi.
Basically I am just looking for advice. TIA.

Could you do online banking? Also, when I need cash and I’m not near my ATM, I make a small purchase with the debit card and get cash back.

I currently bank with a chain of banks that are no where near me because we moved, and I didn't want to fuss with changing all of my auto-pays and direct deposits. With their app, I don't need to go to a physical branch ever, as I can deposit checks using my phone's camera. Not many ATMs around me either, so I get cash back when I make a purchase.

We live in a rural area with big bank access, but about 10 years ago we opened a checking account with a local bank that only has 4 branches but all the features (debit cards, mobile check deposit and drive thru atms). They don’t charge us fees because we’re seniors, plus they give us free checks and I pay all the bills with bill pay. If I have a problem I call one of the three ladies (two named Donna!) who answer the main phone.
