There seems to be a good deal of Field Hockey info here. And I reckon quoting great gobs from Wiki = higher word count. MOO WA HA HA HA!! Just don't over do it ala James Frey.... hmmm speaking of which, any "Fat Otters" showing up in anyone's novels? Thanks for the software link Benni. I bet that will help with the organization process. My brain keeps telling me "Outlines? We don't need no stinkin' outlines!" But I'm willing to try anything at this point. And Muchas gracias to Ms. winkie, but it really is my responsibility to disapline myself and set limits on any interuptions that might pop up. I was far too happy to snatch up the phone and talk all night. (Not that we did, but that was my level of motivation at the time). Crossing my fingers for the weekend and putting hexes on everyones Internal Censors! Good luck as we go around the bend on Week One!

So be it, Jedi! If you will not be turned, then... you will die!
ETA: So, I just had a new character appear out of nowhere. Despite 8 pages of careful preliminary notes and outlining and planning... BAM! He showed up. Wonder what I'll do with him?

Thank you GirlyGhoul. I found a good picture there. I think that I should use pictures in my novel. How much should they count? One word? Or a thousand? Because you know..."A picture is worth a thousand words." 8-D
Hey, where did everyone go? I've got 4,367 words so far and everyone is still at that damn table. But the virtual field hockey game using crumbs and cutlery is about to begin.
Come on! Can you see what that stream of consciousness is doing to me?
ETA When mine show up like that, they pretty much do as they please.

Yep, they'll do that. Last year one of my minor characters took over the whole damn story. Disobedient characters... grr. I seem to have inadvertently introduced a race of giant sexy turnips into my novel. This is even worse than the hippopotamus. I'm also currently finishing up a chapter called "The Case of the Missing Back Hair". This novel will never, ever be read by anyone.

I'm up to about 7500 words so far. I'm really trying to do this as a commitment to myself, more than anything.
<small voice> Does anyone want to be my nano friend...?</sv>

I will be your NaNo friend, Nefertiti! (If you'll tell me if that's Trent Reznor and Flavor Flav in your avatar, and if so, what the hell circumstances fomented that meeting???)

Yeah, one week into this and I am about ready to be committed all right. <small voice> Does anyone want to be my nano friend...?</sv> I, too, will be your Nano friend, Miss N. Baker. (For a moment, I thought that I was really going to have to shrink myself down to meet your specifications. But Nano Robots---I could use that.) I looked at the time of your post---2:22am. What a sad time of the morning to be trolling for Nano friends! Are you procrastinating? As your Nano friend, I must urge you to write!

But you see, if I was flipping through a book and saw a chapter called "The Case of the Missing Back Hair", I'd probably take it straight to the checkout counter and buy it right on the spot! I'd also be drawn to any giant sexy turnips that happened to stroll onto the scene. Carry on! Ironically, in my novel, there is some Turnip Flavored Ice Cream which plays a key role in the protagonist's character arch. I have also had a new character pop in from out of no where, but so far he's fairly minor. However, in the mean time I've had a fairly major character disappear! . Someone I thought from my initial notes would be present in Chapter one or by the beginning of chapter two at least has failed to make an appearance at all. The way the story is going now, it would be awkward and forced for me to suddenly shove him into the spotlight and here I was thinking he was going to be the heart and soul of the story. Very strange how these things have a mind of their own. Word count wise, I'm still behind schedule. I'm only up to 4977 words as of this posting, but that was because Wed. and Fri. were extremely unproductive days. I kicked ass on Sat. and Sun. and now finally have a good rhythm going. I was talking to another friend about the whole thing and just in the course of our conversation we found that if someone started today with 0 word count, they could still make it to 50,000 on Nov. 30 as long as they did at least 2000 words a day. That seems totally doable to me at this point (now that I have finally crushed Internal Editor like a BUG!). So YAY! I've actually been very neglectful of posting on the NaNo site forums (It's just so darned pink and pretty here!) But I'll totally put everyone on my NaNo friends list. Good googly, but if it wasn't for the Greecie NaNos, I'm sure I would have lost heart after Day One! p.s. BWAH! Excellent point!

All your novels sound so exciting? I am afraid mine is awfully boring in comparison. I better spice it up! I would like some Nano friends too. My name is Kootuk on the site because Benni was taken. Are you all using your CPMCG name?
