I can't imagine Michael Cera not being in the movie. I know the movie would still be good without him, but he's my absolute favorite character on the show, and it would just feel empty without him.

But I don't really doubt that he'll be in it. Bateman will work his magic and convince him or something.

ComingSoon.net: Will it be a relief when you actually start filming the "Arrested Development" movie so that people will stop asking you about it?
Jason Bateman: I don't mind talking about it! I'm as big a fan of it as they are. So I feel sort of fortunate that I'm able to give them information on it. I would want them to give me information on it if they had it. I can say that we're looking better than ever. There are just a few more conversations to be had with some cast members to see if they want to be a part of it. Once we get the head count we'll be able to go forward with it and hopefully start shooting in the summer.

CS: Is the story already on paper?
Bateman: I don't think so. I know that Mitch has a couple of ideas, but he's really waiting to nail it down until he knows exactly who's going to be involved.

CS: Do you see having Michael Cera and your relationship in film as something crucial? I thought that was one of the more important parts of the show.
Bateman: Sure. It's not obviously my decision to make. It'll be Mitch's, but there are so many different ways to go with it just based on it being an ensemble. I can't wait to see what he cooks up.

If they are able to shoot this summer, maybe we'll have it by this time next year? I can't image post-production will take that long since there shouldn't be a lot of special effects and stuff like that.

PW: Are you going to miss working on the 90210 in a regular capacity?
Jessica: It was great and I look forward to coming back - but you know, this allows me to move on to the "Arrested Development" movie, which is so exciting now that it's official!

PW: I am beyond excited - can we talk about it?
Jessica: Oh yes!

PW: How much have you missed working on "Arrested"?
Jessica: Now there was a show! I do miss it, I miss the people and I miss the writing. Mitch Hurwitz ["Arrested Development" creator], so brilliant!

PW: How did you get the official word?
Jessica: They called me and asked if I was on board. It was like "duh!" No question whatsoever.

PW: Is it nice to be able to give people a definitive answer when they ask about the movie now?
Jessica: You know, it's funny - the longer the show was gone, the more people would ask about it. Normally a show fades from people's memories, but this one, for some reason hasn't.

PW: I think it's because people are still discovering it to some degree after hearing about it for so long.
Jessica: Of course, the DVDs do great and the die-hard fans watch it over and over. The thing about the writing on "Arrested" is that you could watch a scene three or four times and find different things each time - the writing was so layered.

So we definitely got Bateman, Tambor, and Walter. I would be really surprised if David Cross or Will Arnett didn't come back, since they both seemed very fond of the show. Tony Hale has to come back (we need Buster!), I'm sure we'll get Maebe back, and I certainly hope we get Lindsay back.

Come on, Michael Cera! Just do it!

I really need this movie to happen. The economy sucks. TV sucks. Life pretty much sucks. We need something brilliant to offset all the suckiness. Michael Cera, I'm counting on you.

I agree. I want George Michael to be in the movie but this isn't an all or nothing situation. The movie could be done without MC.

I'm at the point where I'll only believe this stuff when I actually see it.

And I hope that if it does happen, it's as good as it was before. The projects the show's creator has done post-AD haven't been that great.
