I watched the first season of the show and really enjoyed it. But when Matt became so much more of a front burner character; I jsut couldn't watch anymore. The actor who plays him just creeps me out for some reason. It's not just that I find him unattractive--he's just...gah. And now that he's sporting the buzz cut? No, just no.

Wow. Thanks for letting me know because, truly, the whole thing wasn't clear at all. I can't wait for the season finale but I hate -- HATE -- ads so I'm taping it as we speak so I can watch it and fast forward through the junk. I don't have time to check TWoP so I appreciate those of you who explain what is said elsewhere. Huntergrayson, why do you think it would be a "regression" if Julia kept the baby? If it had happened on other shows, I would probably agree with you but given the dominant role of Julia/Sean's relationship in this series, I don't see it as a cop out to the family groups protesting the series. Julia is a key part of the triangle and they need something to keep her in the story after the divorce. They've made it clear that Sean isnt really whole without his family and Julia, and there are few other ways to keep her involved now that she's so much on her own, financially and marriage-wise. IMO, the decision to make her pregnant -- and not seek an abortion --- had nothing to do with PC pressures by outside groups.

Oh, I don't think that it's a regression per se in terms of the show, what I was referencing was the fact that abortions are pretty much forbidden completely on TV now -- even on "edgy" shows like Nip/Tuck and Sex & the City (yes, Miranda's keeping her baby!). What a lot of other shows will do is have a character not have an abortion and then miscarry anyway. Back in the 70s, the show Maude (from Norman Lear, from All in the Family/Archie Bunker fame) had the main character, played by Bea Arthur, debate and then get an abortion with no judgment, so I was referring to the fact that in some ways we've gotten more conservative and regressed as a society. That and getting an abortion on Christmas would've sent the family values groups into a frenzy. (I didn't see not getting one as a copout, btw). Finale Carver reveal? Umm, lame-ish. Kinda awesome at the end, but mostly lame-ish. Seriously, recycling the gender-bender plot and incest?! And what the fuck would be the point of posting Quentin's pic on the carver's myspace blog a week ago and spoiling everyone? That was really, really dumb. Unless they felt that oh, that Kit as his accomplice and his still being alive was enough to count as a twist. I kinda wanted it to be Liz. However, I thought that everything else was pretty darn incredible. The crazy ass Matt subplot was through the roof (so murder has been committed twice by our main characters this season but the Carver is sooooo bad -- oh wait, since Matt didn't pull the trigger, he's off the hook?), Christian and Kimber's sad goodbye, Julia's crazy nightmare dream combo of Eraserhead and Rosemary's Baby, Julia and Sean's reconnecting... All good stuff. Because he looks like Michael Jackson, maybe?

Well, I thought this was quite good! When Quentin had Christian and Sean restrained, and cut off Sean's finger, I was reallly grossed out. Like there wasn't enough on this series already to gross me out. I wondered, when Christian was supposed to cut himself, why didn't he use that implement to cut his other hand free?
Also, what do you think is wrong with Julia's baby?
Liked the twist at the end, with Quentin and Kit. Reminded me of "Body Heat", with Kathleen Turner on the beach.
And Matt and the crazy father, just what they always tell you: Don't EVER let yourself be taken from the primary crime scene.
Plus, that killing was self-defense.

I know, the whole freaking show I was expecting them to say that the baby had the same disorder as Quentin, just because it is what I expect from Nip/Tuck.
I actually was more intrigued by the Matt/Tranny/Neo-Nazi subplot than the Carver reveal. I found it funny when they had Matt put on the makeup because most of season one he looked like he had on some sort of lipstick in every episode. I am worried that next season will be the comeuppance for all of Matt's past transgressions as he will probably be put on trial for the murder of Ariel's dad; because either he will play the hero and take the fall for Cherry so she can have the life she wants as a female, or all the things from the Cara Fitzgerald incident will come out in the police's investigation.
As for the Carver being Quentin, I kind of had a inkling from the beginning of the season it was him. So his reveal was pretty *meh* to me. Plus when Kit said to wait for her to do the autopsy, you knew she was the accomplice. Who knows, maybe Kit and Quentin can track down Ava Moore and make her a man again.
I love how all 3 of the seasons have ended with the McNamara/Troy dysfunctional family meal, and the return of Annie. Who has been locked in the basement all season long.

I wasn't surprised by the Carver being Quentin either. I knew he faked his own carving, I knew his sob story was fake, but I had no clue about Kit. No clue. That was a killer ending IMO. As for Matt - can we drop the drama? I mean - how much can one kid endure?

I kind of thought Quentin was the carver but I too had no idea about Kit. Still it made no sense; I mean how did Quentin just disappear from the autopsy room without anyone noticing? What about other police officers, or coroners? How did Kit and Quentin just head off to Spain without anyone noticing? How many times did they have to film that scene when Quentin had Christian and Sean tied up because I burst out laughing and had to stop the tape.
Thought Matt's story was chilling but who gives a fuck about Nazi dad? I mean the police don't even bother to investigate where Quentin went, so why should they care about Nazi dad?

Yeah, I agree with your points Neurochick. The suspension of reality to watch this show is amazing. But I still love it.
I wonder if they're going to pick up the story of Nazi dad. I worry that little Meg Pryor is going to be avenging Daddy's death next season and Julia will have a willyless baby.
The finale did beat some sort of cable audience record for the year though. That made me happy.
