The most recent episode was just gross. What happened, pray tell? (You can spoil me, I'm only getting the episodes about a year later - and in French. Thanks!)

Well: ***Stan's dad took a really big shit. He even saved it to show all his friends, and had some European people come over and it was declared the biggest crap ever. It turns out Bono had the previous record for biggest crap ever, and he produces another crap bigger than Stan's dad's crap. Stan's dad decides to produce an even bigger crap which he eventually does. In the meantime Stan's mom and all other women in the world are disgusted and don't see what the big deal is. And Stan discovers that Bono is in fact a walking and talking pile of crap, that he is the world's biggest crap and not the producer of it. Which is why he's obsessed with awards and being number 1 because he's really a number 2 (yes, that was an actual joke.) The producer of Bono is some old European dude with the group that measures craps. He took his crap home and raised it and it became Bono. And Bono breastfeeds on the guy.***
And that's basically it.

The joke was that even though Bono does all those good things he still comes off as a piece of shit.
I thought it was hysterical.

Holy... hmm, well... crap! That reminds me of the episode where everyone was learning how to sh*t through the mouth. And I didn't think it could get any worse than that. Thanks for the recap, roisin54!

Deacon I thought it was funny too.
Especially when they showed Bono in Africa, doing charity. 'Yeah yeah yeah yeah!"

I didn't see the show, and I know that Bono may have done a few things that might've seemed to conflict with his charitable interests, but still, I have never understood Trey Parker and Matt Stone's gleeful disdain for any and all who think it might actually do some benefit to try to voice their opinions on causes and issues. I don't get where this idea comes from that our politics are supposed to be what we keep to ourselves, and if you don't then it's uncalled for and you don't have class and you should be mocked accordingly. And "South Park" might try to do it in the form of comedy, but ultimately it is every bit as preachy towards total sociopolitical apathy as any pretentious celebrity activist is towards their cause of choice.

You know, the first 842 times South Park took the piss out of celebrities and activists, it was funny. But now, after years and years of it, it's apparent to me than Stone and Parker's entire thesis is "if you care about anything deeply and try to affect positive change or achieve your dreams, then you're an asshole. Sit down and shut up and keep your icky feelings to yourself or we'll call you names." I've gotten tired of their schtick.

SwanFlake and dguzpy, that's exactly how I feel only you said much better than I could. They're just such total hypocrites, they mock anyone who gets the slightest bit soapboxy and they turn around and get all soapboxy themselves.
They used to mock celebrities who deserved to be mocked, and in a funny way. Like Barbra Streisand. But calling Bono a pile of shit? How is that funny? Or even creative?

I don't like Bono so it makes me laugh.
Having said that, they are hypocrites. They don't like other celebs voicing their opinions, but they can?

I see it completely differently. They make of everyone and everything, nothing is sacred. When they make fun of you, thats when you know you've made it. You don't think the Bono thing is funny, but I bet many of you thought that Tom Cruise in the clset episode was quite amusing.
