I've never seen the British version and I thought that the US one was pretty funny. What's that guy- good hair, hates Dwight, likes the secretary,-Jim? He's cute.

I didn't watch the UK version. I'm sure that helps a great deal.

I thought last nights episode was great. The Diversity Seminar was very giggle-inducing. Dwight is so creepy, but I suppose he's supposed to be that way. And the black guy? I don't know his name, but I love him.
Also, Jim and Pam? They're just too cute.

Dwight: "Can we begin by naming all the races we find sexually attractive? Mine are white and Indian." Meanwhile, the Indian lady next to him looks very, very worried.

I thought the pilot episode blew but the second one, "Diversity Day" was an absolute riot. I can't remember laughing so hard. I hope it continues on the same path and doesn't get cancelled.
Now I have never seen the original show so I have ordered it off Netflix. Since it is supposed to be way better than this one, I can't wait.

Should we also note that the American one has a target on its back because even the UK version had a limited number of episodes, not to mention that this could become Dilbert?

I thought the Diversity seminar was pretty good, but not "American" enough, if you will. I'd rather they didn't try to shoehorn Ricky Gervais-level subtle gaggery into Stephen Carrell's character, who is much more overt and aggressively obnoxious. That's kind of like how the British feel about us anyway.

I liked the second episode (the insurance one) too. So far this has been good non-PC TV, which I enjoy the most. Gah on sitcoms that are so saccharine sweet.

I lauged myself silly over the fake illnesses on the insurance forms:
"Ebola virus" "Hot dog fingers" "Count Choculitis"
I really do like this show -- but I can't stand the Stephen Carrell interpretation of the character. The supporting characters are saving it for me.

I really do like this show -- but I can't stand the Stephen Carrell interpretation of the character. The supporting characters are saving it for me. I agree, his lines don't sound right, he's too ordinary and boring and the acting is just bad IMO. I love the British version and could only watch half of the US pilot, but after reading this thread I gave it another chance and I'm glad I did. Dwight rocks and Jim is just too cute.
