My favorite Dave Hester moment was when he was bidding angrily against some guy we'd never seen before in a way you knew it was personal, then they cut to Dave Jr explaining "That's my dad's brother. They don't like each other" in this sort of understated way with an eye roll. I *think* I've seen that one, but not enough that it's ingrained in my episode rolodex. Thanks for bringing it--I'll see if I can find it somewhere. I also like Nabila and wouldn't mind seeing her again--I loved her queenly dismissals of the plebes. On the other hand, Mark Belelo was, well, an interesting counterpoint. I like how angry he made Darrell ("everything about him is fake!"), and how everyone was like, "do you even go to this school?"

We're hoping for a second season of Oddities -- interesting hosts, cool stuff in the shop, and assorted crazy/freaky people who come in to buy and sell things. Science is getting ready to launch a spin-off (Oddities - San Francisco), so I think it's a safe bet that Mike and Evan will be back for more.

Storage Wars is such a guilty pleasure. I can't wait for the new episodes to return.
I can't stand Dave Hester, either. He's smug as all hell. My fave anti-Dave episode is where he had that delicate porcelain box or something and as he's making his way out of the truck (smug face and all) drops it and breaks the lid. Hee! This is after he was being a total jerk to everyone.

My personal favourite Dave Hester moment was when he was convinced that he had found a Stradivarius violin in a storage locker. He was so sure he was going to be rich. It turned out to be a low quality student violin, that needed more to fix than it was worth. I laughed and laughed.
However, I do feel that they overvalue the finds on this show. Not when they consult the experts, but when the bidders themselves say how much things are worth. I remember Jarrid and his wife valuing a used player piano with no rolls for some outrageous amount that I knew they'd never get in a million years. I'd like to see a follow-up show one day where they show how much items actually sold for. A lot of times what an item is worth and what it sells for are two very different things.

I have seen every episode of the new Hawaii Five-O. The plots are rather silly, but everybody is so pretty. And they have the best, most whacked-out season finales ever. And don't forget the location porn!

It turned out to be a low quality student violin, that needed more to fix than it was worth. I laughed and laughed. I agree, although I did think it was interesting to watch how he tried to diplomatically ask for a second opinion from the guy's father. And of course, both were very gracious. Dave clearly couldn't believe it and seemed to be about to have an apoplectic spell. Without a doubt! On a related note, I read the Yelp page for Jarrod and Brandi's store, and someone commented that all the Hot Wheels cars were still on the shelf.

My guilty pleasures.
Hawaii 5-0 - who the fuck cares about the plot, hot guys and they're in Hawaii!
Single Ladies - nice to see a show where black women are desired, something rarely seen on network TV, who cares if the acting sucks, everybody's beautiful!
A new one - Common Law - I think this show was some slash fangirl's wet dream. Two cops who bicker more than Steve and Danny on H50 and now have to attend couple's therapy? With real couples?

I love Single Ladies - it's such a delicious and unabashedly luxurious nighttime soap. I'm so glad it's back. The acting is bad for the most part, but I love Keisha. She is so no-nonsense - "Oh no, you earned this!" as she grabs the engagement ring. Ha. The new girl replacing Val is one of the worst actresses I have seen in awhile, but she sure is pretty.
I hope that April gets more interesting. They killed the only thing interesting about her - the affair with the mayor. I will miss the uptight Val though I won't miss the intern or Jerry Waters' old ass.

Based on this thread, I just watched five episodes of Storage Wars. It's not for me, I think. And Barry, he looks like Jerry Springer's brother.
Now, I need to find something else on Netflix to obsess over.
