Is anyone watching this? I didn't really mean to watch it but now I'm hooked--three episodes I've seen so far.
The main character (House) is sort of unreal but that's why I like it--it's sort of like, What if doctors actually said what's on their mind to patients? And so far the medical mysteries have been pretty fascinating, to me. Mind you, I know nada of medicine.
Thoughts? I am hooked. Of course, TV shows I like usually get canned, so I'm nervous about committing to this show.

I really love this show as well, though Cameron can really piss me off. Right now I want to strangle Chase as well. I wish the show was more house/wilson, both of whom I love. Cuddy is also pretty kick ass.
I wouldn't worry about watching it, its got monster ratings and was already renewed for next year.

House is already one of my favorite TV characters of all time.
But I can't help but like Cameron--she's like a puppy, always eager to please. And I can't bring myself to hate a puppy.
The conflict between House and Vogler was necessary to add more drama to the show, even if it seems a little forced.
I say forced because: this year House has saved the lives of a Carly Fiorina-like CEO, a major league baseball player, and a Presidential candidate, among others. In the real world, the publicity value of such high-profile medical care would be worth many times the cost of House's whole department.

I love watching House, even though the plots are kind of repetitive: - 15-25 minutes in - they think it's disease/condition X, so try the corresponding cure.
- 30 minutes in - not working!
- 35 minutes in - House has a conflict with patient or patient's relatives/friends or staff.
- 40 minutes in - House shows his humanity. But not really.
- 43 minutes in - House finds out something that no one knew about the patient, which leads to new theory and potential cure.
- 48 minutes in - Conflict again with patient or relatives/friends or staff.
- 49 minutes in - House shows his humanity. But not really.
- 50 - They try the new cure anyway
- 55 - Cure works.
- 57 - House has conflict with Cuddy, the hospital administrator.
- 58 - House shows his humanity. But not really.
But I like the formula and especially the misanthropic-but-not-really character of Gregory House. Hugh Laurie is what makes the show interesting for me. I never realized he was English (apparently as English as you can get, rowed at Eton, etc.). He does a good accent. I hope the show stays around for a while.

You're right about the show's being formulaic--but I guess I love that formula.
Last night was infuriating. That Vogler jerk! But I don't think he's gone. He'll be back. There has to be an antagonist to antagonize House.

I think the Vogler/House thing is really forced, and although Chi McBride is a good actor, I never want to see him back on this show, ever again.
Last night it bothered me so much when Vogler was ranting about what was wrong with medicine; like a table full of doctors is going to be cowed by his bitching at them, especially when he's all "Doctors are so arrogant, I hate that!" Yeah, it sucks, but they have to make split-second decisions and not second-guess them, so arrogance comes with the territory. Also, $100 million isn't all that much when you think about how much medical equipment costs to buy and maintain, and how much you have to pay doctors/other specialized medical types. Isn't the hospital supposed to be affiliated with a Princeton-like school? If so, alumni donations, grants from foundations and government funding would make it impossible for him to hold them all hostage like that. It's a prestigious institution with a great staff, not a county hospital like on ER, where that storyline might be believable.
I liked this show when it was just House and the ducklings solving weird cases, with Cuddy as the source of conflict, and Wilson hanging around being a pretty, pretty cad. It wasn't great TV, or very innovative, but it was entertaining.
I feel like Vogler is to this show what Oliver was to the OC last year, and I can't understand why FOX keeps tinkering with perfectly fine shows. For me House jumped the shark incredibly quickly, and I just want them to pretend this "Cameron & Wilson temporarily leaving/Chase is an asshole/Vogler is scary" crap never happened.

From TV Guide this week...Sela Ward will be brought on to be the woman that House lived with for a while for a potentially long-term story arc.
Not a moment too soon, if you ask me.
First of all, I liked Cameron BEFORE she had a thing for House. She was a sweet, hurt, little kid, but I thought she had a lot of potential.
I knew Foreman wasn't going...cause Omar Epps is simply the best of the three kids. Bar none.
And, well, Chase going would have probably been too obvious. (And dammit, he's cute and has a sexy accent...he would have gone over my dead body)
I haven't been watching for a while now, and this is because of the whole House/Cameron protest I was holding (I called it "Ross and Rachel" territory, and I'm sticking to it. Hugh Laurie is too good an actor and this was too good a show for dreck like that). With Cameron disappearing (and only temporarily, I would think...just feels that way. No reason to set up a character at the beginning just to get rid of her without thought for her return), I think it might be safe to tune back in. Maybe.
But, back to the subject at hand: Sela Ward. I like that. Nice casting call.
On the other hand, though, the series of developments that this show has been through have progressed pretty quickly for a show in its first year. Hard to say that the show will last a few based on that. And that's the thing that's really bugging me about this show.

That was a boring date. I would have rather seen him have dinner with Wilson.

I love this show. It's finally given my mother and I something to talk about when we talk on the phone. Though, it's a little disturbing because my mother is 33 years older than I am yet we both have a crush on House.

This past episode had a huge error in it that kind of ruined the rest of the show for me because the writing is usually so tight: We see House and Cuddy discussing the patient and House tells her that the patient has regained sphincter control, yet after the commercial House is with the Scooby Gang and is surprised to hear that the patient had lost sphincter control to begin with. I was kind of surprised that it was such an obvious error.
