DUDES! That episode was the ultimate mindfuck!
I don't know what to think because I've never seen an episode of television like that. IMO I've never even felt this way about Lost. It's like what Lost wishes it was, because this is the ONLY time I've actually felt knocked off my feet by an episode of a series in the sense that I learned to distrust everything as not being reality.

I know! I got so drawn in that I forgot my initial reaction of "Oh, if he was shot in the jugular, he's actually in terrible shape." I was screaming at the TV when the patient was split open.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that he survives given that the show is called "House, M.D." and not "Cuddy, M.D." or something. I wonder if the ketamine he requested will really work on his leg...

That was so awesome. I haven't had a show keep me guessing about what was real and what wasn't for ages. And even though I figured it was all a dream when he split that guy's stomach open I was really worried it was real up until he dropped the bullet. I wonder if we'll ever find out why the guy actually shot him or what the deal really was with tongue guy, since the whole episode was in House's head apparently.
And I could've done without the popping eye. That's one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen on TV.

I agree this finale kicked butt! It was awesome! My only problem with this show is that lately I've had to watch parts of it with my eyes closed. I can't take the gory realism. Other than that, it's my favourite Okay so the part of the hallucination/dream/whatever-it-was where House is using the robot to pop one of Cameron's buttons...hmmm...seems Dr. H DOES have a thing for her after all. I wonder what they'll do with that next season. hehehe

I was watching it with two other people and we all had the funniest reactions to the eye popping thing. I tried to block out my view of it with my hand, my friend covered her eyes, and her husband ran away from the TV and hid in the corner until it was over. There was a lot of eye covering and view blocking going on last night. In the dozen years I've been watching ER and The X-Files nothing has even come close to the grossness on display last night. Dr. Romano's two battles with a helicopter have lost their place at the top of my personal The Most Shocking Things I Have Ever Seen on TV list.

Of course, over at TWOP there's a chorus of "that was so predictable," and "I saw it coming from a mile away." ::rolls eyes::

Oh of course they did. They are sooooo much more observant and with-it than the rest of us mere mortals.

I loved the part when House disconnected the shooter's morphine. Even in his hallucinations House is a SOB. What a Magnificent Bastard!

Sure, the dream sequence thing has been done before, but I think they're missing the most interesting parts -- what the dream sequence said about House, his fears and insecurities, his wrestling with his thoughts, and his relationships with the other characters and his patients. -- not just the plot devices.

I freely admit that I didn't realize it was ALL a dream until the very end. The whole episode I was ranting in my head about the stupidity of the writers. "No way they'd put House AND the shooter in the same room! He just got shot, why do they want him doing physical therapy? This is so dumb. Stupid writers."
And then we got to the end and I felt like a complete idiot.
