Skeevy, shady, slimy. I won't watch his movies or anything he does. It irritates me to no end when celebs I like continue to moon over how great it is to work with him.
That is all.

I know there are plenty of good reasons to hate him, but I just don't. I'd love to sit at a dark bar with him, drink something strong, talk about New York, and bitch about things together. Just once would be enough, but I think that would be really cool.

So many things wrong with that perverted freak. Was screwing his girlfriend Mia Farrows adopted daughter for months before she found out and to add insult to injury, married her and had a couple of kids. Not to mention hes friggin fucking ugly as sin.

Always hard to separate the artist from the art. The thing with Mia Farrow and Soon-Yi was almost impossible to get through for me. He's given me so much laughter and intellectual delight, I can't turn against him. I stopped watching his stuff for a couple of years and after they married and the scandal faded I went back.
His message is almost the same in every film and spoken out loud in Deconstructing Harry, spoiler 'my real life is a total mess and I screw up with everything, it's only in my art that I can get things right and feel alive' (paraphrased).spoiler
If anyone wants a great gossip read on Woody, get The Unruly Life of Woody Allen by Marion Meade. I think he tried to stop publication and was probably spitting nails at the release. As a fan, I felt guilty buying and reading it. It was marvelous.

The man is the definition of skeevy, to me. Even before the Soon Yi crap, I thought he was gross. I usually heart nerds, but he's just fugly as hell, and self-involved.
I think his films become less and less relevant. After "Hannah and her Sisters", and "Mighty Aphrodite", I lost interest.
He said "The heart wants what it wants", in reply to questions about Soon Yi. I say, "He's a nasty fugly manho", about Woody.

Other than the skeevy incest thing he had going with Soon Yi (I know they aren't related but he was her father figure in that household with Mia. He helped friggin raise that child. Damn you Woody), is it possible for him not to make the same movie over and over? Doesn't it get tedious for the nerd himself?

I don't come from a culture that is historically linked to fundamentalist Christianity, so I can separate WA's artistic output from his apparently skeevy reputation in his homeland. His relationship with Soon Yi was a bit erky and definitely self-indulgent, but not incest, imo, and therefore ultimately forgiveable. I mean, who am I to condemn anyone? As they have apparently formed a workable married union, I have no opinion of them or of it. Had I been raised differently, I would maybe feel differently. But I just recall how much fun and enlightenment I got from his films in the '80s and early '90s. I would not like a too-bleak Woody. I love love love 'Hannah and Her Sisters', and 'Purple Rose of Cairo' gets me where I live, every time. So many fine actors like working with Woody, too, so I am glad that his talent is used for good. I am not offended by eccentricity, only by bigotry.

The Soon-Yi thing certainly is dodgy, but it doesn't offend me to the extent that certain other c'lebs' behaviour has. What I find fascinating is that their relationship has already outlasted most Hollywood couplings.

I think his relationship with Soon-Yi was absolutely the most selfish thing I've ever heard of. I don't know how much of a father figure he was to her, so I'll leave the whole incest vibe alone. But he stole the daughter of his longtime lover and partner. And never a hint of remorse or acknowledgement that Mia had a right to be angry and hurt. Pity all those years and years of therapy never gave him any insight into the hearts of other people. I could care less about most celebs, but in my mind, forever and ever, Woody Allen = pond scum. He ranks above CEMJ and is about tied with Star Jones, but only because of her tsunami comment.

Woody Allen made two of my favorite movies, Annie Hall and Radio Days. I think he is great proof that people should quit while they're ahead.
